Radio silence from Docs, should I chase them?

Just wondering if I'm getting over-anxious or if I should chase up my booking-in appointment. I'm 8+2 now and saw the GP about 2 weeks ago. She told me I would receive letters to tell me when the booking-in apt with the midwife is and then the first scan but haven't heard anything yet. All the books seem to say the booking-in is at 8 weeks or does that depend on area? When did you have yours?
Sorry probably a bit of a daft question but don't want to seem neurotic by ringing them too soon.

just ring up and ask, if something is wrong get them to send another letter or book it lol I do that, my doctors must be fed up of me XD
better to have peace of mind xx

I booked at 12+3 and didn't get my letter for the appointment until 10 weeks... GP referred me at 4 weeks!

Quite normal for my area.

That said, paperwork does go missing, and in no way would it be neurotic to call and check a) when booking is usual for your area and b) to make sure the referral went off.

In general, I think you should hear a couple of weeks before the booking when the appointment is, so if you're told 'booking happens at 10-12 weeks in this area' and then haven't recieved an appointment by next week then it would need chasing.

And congratulations Smile

Wow yours seems quite late to me Manda but I guess it's totally fine, it's too early for them to do much anyway I suppose.
I'm just getting a bit desperate to have something officially happen! I think I might have to check if nothing's come by early next week. Thanks for replies.

mine was 12 weeks as well. round here 12 weeks is the norm, they wont do your booking in here before 12 weeks. i told the docs at 4 weeks and got my letters re scans and booking in at 10 weeks.x

CheekyChoppers · 26/11/2011 16:17

I had my booking in and first scans together at 12 weeks, I think it's just the norm in my area Smile

I went to doc at around 5 wks and my scan/booking in isn't til 14 wks! I've been told not to expect anything before then but I'm trying to get a MW appointment soon as I have some concerns I'd like to discuss.

I think it does depend on where you live but nothing wrong with asking to see a midwife in the meantime.

My booking in and scan are being done at the same appointment which is this week when I will be 10+3. I received the appointment information about 4 weeks ago which was about 2 weeks after seeing my GP.

I guess all health trusts are different though. I had the choice of 2 maternity units. The one I opted fit seems to do prefer to do booking in and scan at 10 weeks. The other one seems to do them between 11 & 12 weeks.

I got my booking in with 12 week scan @ 14 weeks which is standard in Glasgow.

I'd never even realised booking in and scan could be at the same time.

Thanks for all the replies, it seems it really varies and booking in appointments are often later than I'd expected so I probably need to chill out!
