What should I do?
I have spent 1.5 days in bed/ sofa
Eaten and drank very little
Hot and cold, coat on and off numerous times

Sent home from work yesterday and slept in this morning therefore
Missed all the doc appointments .

Should I just stay put in my hovel?
Go to walk in centre?
Maternity assessment unit? I'm 28 weeks+1?

My limbs and head are pounding :(
It's so awful I am debating if it's worth struggling to get up for the loo or just
Hold it in!

Halp

Do you have a high temp?

spannermary · 24/11/2011 15:50

I would call NHS direct and ask them: 0845 4647

Tell them you're pregnant and the symptoms and they should be able to help.

Good luck!

Kayano · 24/11/2011 15:55

I don't know if I have a high temp because I stupidly don't have a themomitor (can't spell!) and the temperature I feel keeps goig up and down iyswim.

Poor you - I'd take paracetamol and keep drinking lots of water and some fruit juice if you can manage it.

If it was just your routine 28wk check, phone and reschedule, they can also give you some better advice. Rest up and I hope you fell better soon.

I had flu last year whil about 34 weeks pregnant and it was horrid.

I spoke to NHS Direct and they did send me ro the doctor. They just checked me and the baby over so it might be worth speaking to them to see if the advice is the same this year.

As an aside, I was very cross I hadn't received a flu jab by that point. I had asked and been told that it wasn't necessary by my midwife. The doctor I saw practically told me off for not having one.

It is really important to keep your liquids up at least and if you can stomach it have a little something to eat. Maybe some soup? (If you haven't got any in the freezer can someone get you some, maybe Covent Garden or similar that are healthy and got lots of veg/vitamins in them). Plus have some vitamin C foods/drinks (like orange juice). You can take paracetamol (assuming you aren't allergic).

Make a doctor's appointment just for a check up.

stripeyZ · 24/11/2011 17:55

Sorry you're feeling awful.

Can your DH get a thermometer for you?

I would take 6 hourly paracetamol, drink plenty of fluid & sleep. If your temperature isn't coming down with paracetamol or you develop difficulty with your breathing you should go to A&E.

Hope you feel better soon.

The paracetemol and drinks have been helping. I feel a bit better now. Been on the lucozade and although my mum made me some nice tea I could only eat some mushrooms and egg whites Sad bump is wriggly wriggly so just going to rest more and reassess in the morning.

Thank you so much everyone x
