38 weeks and lots of CM...should I worry?

I seem to remember seeing nothing like CM from early pregnancy onwards, until the day I was in early labour with DD1 and the inevitable show. This has been going on for a couple of weeks? Should I worry that it is a kind of a slow "show", or that my cervix is open and I don't know it? It is not liquid enough to be amniotic fluid, but then as my waters did not break with my first, maybe I just don't know what I am looking for. Colour is kind of whitish - like normal CM. No smell. Hope this is not TMI - I feel rather safe on a pregnancy thread as a lot of what is discussed is guts and gore and goo, isn't it.

From what I have read and been told that sounds perfectly normal to be honest.

Hi there
According to my MW it is really normal to have increased CM in the last few weeks - I'm 39 weeks and to coin a phrase from a fellow MNetter, i've been like Brian the Snail for a couple of weeks now :)

Good luck for the last slog

Thanks! It shows how different two pregnancies can be. Good luck bigmacandhappymeal. Hope your birth goes well.

It might be the beginning of a show and having had a child already you would expect your cervix not to be completely closed.

It might just be normal mucous.

I wouldn't think it's something to worry about, if it's a show then hopefully things are on the move - at 38 weeks you're considered term anyway :)

Ah yes, it is a lovely thought to already be at term...but the house is not ready, DP is too busy and I am peculiarly attached to the idea of baby not arriving before due date!

i'm just over 36 weeks and have just noticed this too this week. good to hear it's normal!

Me too. If it seems normal I wouldn't worry. I presume show would have to have some red or pinkness though?
