you'd think after 4 babies I would know all about aches and pains but this last couple of days I have developed a pain I've never had before (and it is really hurting so it's not as if I've had it and forgotten about it).

It's kind of low down in the pelvis, but seems to be a bone pain rather than muscular IYKWIM, right at the front, almost the pubic bone area?

I've noticed too that going upstairs hurts, especially if I try to take them two at a time, turning over in bed hurts, using the clutch hurts, and this is going to sound s o o stupid, it hurts if I try to take big steps but silly mincing little steps don't hurt.

Has anyone any idea what it could be or am I at 41 finally falling to bits although in all seriousness it is v painful!!

TIA

Sounds like SPD, not being rude but does it urt when you open your legs?? Visit your gp, if he agrees it sounds like SPD, he/she will refer you to a physiotherapist.

It sounds like it could be SPD to me -if you do a search on here for it you will find various threads about it (sorry can't do links and am about to disappear out for an appt so can't elaborate).
Good luck

Allyco

Agree with hornbags and waterfall. Please go and see your GP and get checked out. I've had it with both my pregnancies and it's not pleasant!

Have a look for other threads on mumsnet - there are quite a few.

Don't sit cross legged on the floor. Keep your knees together when you get in and out of cars. Put a pillow between your knees in bed at night. (These all helped me when I had SPD).

wow thanks - that is exactly what it sounds like!! it has a name, I thought it was me getting old.

Although I'm glad it's not as bad as some of those stories - blimey.
