Violent rapid movements - wtf?

30 weeks pg and noticed this happening about 4 times now in past week, just happened few mins ago, feels really odd and quite frightening. Anyone else had this and talked to any HCP about it/ know what it is?

From nowhere very rapid and strong shaking movements - like baby is fitting Sad. Lasts about 2-5 seconds. Best thing I can compare it to is if you see a rabbit or something being picked up and it beats its legs really fast for a few seconds as if it is trying to reach the ground and run off. Just feels far faster and more violent than any voluntary movement from the baby could be. Any ideas? Should I be worried?

Ooh, there was a thread about this a few months ago; let me have a look. Am sure someone on their said it couldn't be fitting as babies in the womb couldn't. Let me have a look...

Thanks potteringAlong, what sorky had (and the many others that posted) is exactly what this is I am sure - freakishly similar description. I will mention it to midwife but I am quite reassured now.

Hi Raven, I'm 33 weeks and have had the same movements you describe daily or every few days for a couple of weeks now. I think the first time was the same day I felt baby jolt head down and I imagine those movements like burrowing, getting comfortable in there. Though I swear today they have resulted in the baby manovering itself to transverse, the bulge out my left side looks suspiciously head shaped. I think it is just but fidgets of movement and I'm not worried. Do speak to your midwife if you are concerned though.

I had the same thing happen to me at around the same point in pregnancy, now 36+1 and hasn't happened for a while but my movements now feel mostly like big waves. I used to get 3 or 4 rapid violent movements in a row, really odd.
