I'm due tomorrow with my first and have been mulling over the above three things and, for me, I think they are:

Best - guilt-free afternoon naps
Worst - disturbed sleep from getting up 5 times in the night for a wee
Most surprising - being asked "how's my favourite walrus?" by a friend and actually not minding!

What are yours? (only rule is that you can only have one for each Smile )

Ooooh can I play? 35 weeks with my first and mine are...

Best - the wiggly worm feeling as baby gets comfy Grin
Worst - not being able to walk for more than 5 mins without getting breathless/braxton hicks!
Most surprising - how much I love my "tiger stripes" (stretchmarks)

Grin

Hi wombat its my due date today :)

My Best - having maternity leave
Worst - Lack of sleep :(
Most suprising - still being able to stand up straight with this huge bump :o

Sending vibes far babys to arrive soon! :)

Pishtushette · 23/11/2011 11:23

Best - everyone is so nice and friendly
Worst - constipation
Most surprising - I didn't realise I would fart so much.

Pishtushette · 23/11/2011 11:24

I'm not pregnant at the mo. Just reminiscing

annekins · 23/11/2011 11:31

Best - feeling special - getting to put my feet up while others do stuff, and having a fuss made of me
Worst - feeling special - am normal a very independent girl and while I love my DH dearly, am quite capable of doing most things for myself...these days even getting socks on is a challenge and I hate relying on others.
Most surprising - how I've come to realise that I will miss my bump and the wriggling/kicking/poking/turning around/headbutting, despite not enjoying being pregnant all that much as my body seems to be falling apart!

VikingLady · 23/11/2011 11:42

Can I play too?

Best - dh's face when he felt it move for the first time last week
Worst - the truly GHASTLY wind it has given me (honestly, no-one warned me about it, I can barely stand to share a room with MYSELF)
Most surprising - People you thought knew you offering (unwanted, amateur) "advice" about thinkgs they know nothing about, like what I should eat, names for the baby, bf vs formula, sleeping regimes, cc... They should know I never listen. Very bizarre. Their love of giving advice means they have forgotten who I am!

Justfeckingdoit · 23/11/2011 11:46

Best is that everyone is so nice to you
Worst is heartburn. Never known anything like it.

wombatinwaiting · 23/11/2011 12:01

yy vikinglady - the smelly chuffing is horrendous Blush

Best thing about first pregnancy is everyone making sure you put your feet up and looking after you.
The worst thing about my second pregnancy was that the above did not happen and you need it MORE second time around.
Most surprising thing is that no one tried to touch my bump. I give out the 'don't touch me' vibe.

LikeACandleButNotQuite · 23/11/2011 12:58

Best - the feeling of them moving, kicking, hiccupping

Worst - rib pain. From around 26 to 36 weeks my ribs have gone out, out, out until they can't anymore. The pain is only now subsiding!

Most surprising - that I have ended up with what looks like a beach ball under my clothes, instead of ending up as wide as I am tall. Even a friend said "you do not look how I imagined" Hmm took it as a compliment, and glad I hadn't!

SpicyMeatball · 23/11/2011 13:24

Best - When DP felt her kick for the first time - we both welled up!
Worst - Trying to roll out of bed 3, 4, 5... times a night for a pee!
Most suprising - No one prepares you for the joys of trying to shave your legs! It's actually impossible!
Don't even get me started on attempting to keep yourself neat "down there"! Grin

VikingLady · 23/11/2011 13:26

DH is now shaving my legs for me. Told him I have given up on bikini line.

SpicyMeatball · 23/11/2011 13:26

Actually, i second the heartburn being the worst!!

SpicyMeatball · 23/11/2011 13:28

VikingLady thats brilliant Grin
I'm going to ask DP when he comes home.. worth a try Wink

chocolateyclur · 23/11/2011 13:39

2nd pregnancy.

Best - guilt free biscuits at 3am

Worst - PAIN. Specifically hip and heartburn

Surprising - probably the cat forgiving me for being sick on his head. I had morning sickness, he wondered what I was doing in the loo.

MiauMau · 23/11/2011 14:06

best - seeing us (me and DP) turning into parents little by little
worst - scare around 12 weeks, ended up at the A&E waiting behind drunks.
most surprising - "Bloody Hell, you're becoming mummy shaped"
:o

BellaCB · 23/11/2011 14:21

Best - I agree with chocolateyclur, the guilt free biscuits do take a lot of beating...
Worst - discovering that being pregnant doesn't actually agree with me, and that I'm not really enjoying it (tho obv v excited about the littl'un at the end)
Most surprising - the number of times it is physically possible to throw up in one 24-hour period

kdiddy · 23/11/2011 15:57

Another first timer here

Best = I actually love my body for once and feel really proud and amazed by what's happening to it

Worst = scary bleeds at 6 and 8 weeks which freaked us out massively and made me realise how much we wanted the baby

Surprising = how healthy I have felt and how easy I've found it to stop drinking! (believe me I thought that would be a real test!). I am 32+3 though so know I'm going downhill on the feeling comfortable front though!

Pursang · 23/11/2011 16:45

Best: Playing the pregnancy card...

"the baby neeeeeds salt n vinegar chipsticks but my legs are aching too much to drive. Would you go get some? For the baby

Pursang · 23/11/2011 16:49

(now preggers now: in hindsight)

wombatinwaiting · 23/11/2011 16:55

He he - loving playing the pg card pursang!

LikeACandleButNotQuite · 23/11/2011 17:00

I like to play the pregnancy card at work. I trot out to speak to the complainers, and lo and behold they are won round by the bump. I ask people for favours that aren't even for me, as I know the response will be 'yeah sure'.

Its very naughty!!

feekerry · 23/11/2011 21:50

best- everyone dotes on you/treats you like a godess! its amazing i love it!!

worst- having hyperemesis. utter hell.

most surprising-how hard she kicks me!! how can something so small kick so hard??!!

ginmakesitallok · 23/11/2011 21:53

best - agree with the feeling special thing
worst - with DD1 the leg cramps, with DD2 worrying ALL the time as I'd had 2 mcs before her
most surprising - that you actually get a real live baby at the end!!!
