I had a sweep yesterday (38+1wks due to ds being +16 days, induced then emcs) so, mw said she could get two fingers into cervix but that babies head had not engaged yet and to expect show/ bit of blood.
So this morning I have had a small (about 1p piece sized) bloody show but with dark blood.

Firstly I was n't expecting old/ dark blood but fresh/ pink??
Secondly, does it not mean quite so much (ie impending labour) as it was simply a result of sweep or is it just as significant?

Sorry, very garbled!
Any knowledge would be great

Same happened to me. I think it's just a result of the rummage, but that, and the 2 cm is a good sign.
The next day, I went for a really long walk around the fields, singing at the top of my voice! Ironed all my husbands shirts and had sex (which I REALLY didn't fancy). Water's broke that night.

Good luck!

With DC2 I had a show at 38 weeks (naturally though, no sweep or anything), and the next day waters broke and DC2 born 3.5 hours later. Didn't do anything like what Coldcuppacoffee did though. Others here will tell you that it took weeks after a show for them for labour to start. Think for me the blood was initially pink and then got sort of brown later in the day.

Dark blood is right. No clue when labour will start for you, though! I had a very vigourous rummage during in induction with #1, and had a show naturally with #2. Both babies were born within 12 hours. But I was 40+15 (and on massive doses of induction drugs via drip) and 40+11!

Good luck!
