Hey,

This is my first time posting :-)
I'm 30 weeks with my first baby and things seem to be going ok but I put on 11kg's in the first 27 weeks, no weight gain for 2 weeks and this week I lost a kilo. Has anyone had a similar experience? It's prob nothing to worry about as baby is kicking away but all the books/apps/guides say I should be gaining not losing! My appetite has been a bit hit and
miss and I was about 3kg overweight to start with....

Looking forward to hearing from anyone who found similar :-)

no, but i am 31 weeks and wish I had the same problem! I feel huge!

But in all seriousness- if you are eating properly it is probably nothing to worry about. I think for the last trimester you are meant to up your calorie intake by 300 calories a day, and if you haven't been doing this you would logically lose weight. There would be no harm in checking though with the midwife rather than worrying yourself.

I haven't, but heard people eating less towards the end because of decreased stomach size. I doubt it is anything to worry about, especially as the baby is active.

Are you being measured regularly? The main concern is that the baby is still growing. If you don't have a midwife appointment this week, I would go to a drop in clinic or call your midwife just to get checked out and have a chat for peace of mind.

Oh I still feel huge!! My belly is pretty big (as is my bum legs etc). I've got a midwife appointment soon so will get measured then I guess. I'm on pregaday for anaemia and pregnecare for general so bub should be getting everything it needs. I'm trying to eat healthy just worried I'm doing something wrong, but at the same time I always try to listen to my body and my body doesn't want to eat much!! It's bizarre!

Yes, I did exactly this. I had awful heartburn in the last trimester, and I was carrying the baby very high so I think my stomach was about the size of a walnut. A week after I had DS, I weighed less than I had pre-preg. DS was still a respectable 7lbs and in perfect health.

Just eat healthily, take your vitamins and don't worry. The baby is a very effective parasite- you losing weight won't stop the baby growing unless the weight loss is extreme (i.e. you were in a famine zone). Just mention it to your MW.

That's pretty much where bub is, very high up, or so people have told me. Thankfully haven't had too much heart burn.

DITTO!

I'm 34 weeks + 2 days and weigh only 1 1/2 lbs heavier than my 10 week booking in appointment! However, I did arrive back from a Caribbean Cruise (I think) 9lbs heavier (suspected DVT) and then 5 days later found out I was pregnant so in all honesty I've probably only put on 10 1/2 lbs since conception!!!

MW said it was fine unless weight loss was dramatic. Also suffer terribly with heartburn (I need to buy shares in Gaviscon!) but last night I noticed Peanut has dropped slightly.

I've lost 1kg from wk 28 -34, which has taken me back below my pre-pregnancy weight but I'm very, very overweight. I lost about 4kg in the first trimester and have slowly put it back on. At "fat clinic" when I was 28weeks I'd got back to my pre-pregnancy week but then at 34weeks I'd lost 1kg but wiht the amount of excess weight I carry, it isn't a big deal for me and the growth scan at 34 weeks showed baby was weighing 5lb11oz so definitely no problems with his/her growth although he/she is still within normal range apparently (I thought that's quite big myself). Your body will prioritise your baby over you; as my mother put it, your body will take the calcium from your bones and give it to your baby if you aren't taking in enough lol
