Does this happen during the final few weeks of pregnancy or is it just after you get home with little one?

I'm 40+2 and have never seen a health visitor!

ah ha! So I guess that suggests it occurs after giving birth :)

Where I live you see a HV once the midwife has signed you off, which is usually about 10 days after giving birth.

They usually take over from the midwives at around 2 weeks & stay with you until LO starts school, then the school nurse should take over.

Thanks for clearing that up for me.

Should you and baby be well after the birth the midwife will discharge you on day 10. The health visitor will try to see you between days 11 and 17 but it may go up to day 21.

In some areas antenatal health visiting happens where you meet your HV at around 30-34 weeks, this isn't everywhere yet though.
