Argh! 32-week meltdown. Anyone else?

I'm 32 weeks pregnant with my 2nd baby and having a meltdown.

The first birth wasn't pleasant, due to the midwives not listening to what I wanted. It left me scared to do it all again. I had some counselling and felt better, but now all the fear is back.

Has anyone else felt like this around this time? It's a bit like PMT! Now everything else has started to worry/annoy me too, eg not having enough energy to cope with a toddler, other half leaving DIY jobs half done, and him giving up a permanent job for a temp contract that'll be finished when the baby is two months old. I'm hoping the general annoyance will pass - did anyone else feel like this with a couple of months to go til the birth?

I haven't got any advice to offer but I didn't want to leave you post unanswered. I'm really sorry you're feeling like that. Your post struck a chord with me I had a difficult first birth partly because the midwife didn't listen, or communicate much at all with me.

I was wondering just today how it would be the next time (if there is one, fingers crossed!)

I think next time I will be stronger at asking for what I want earlier on, and will take less shit if I end up with someone like her again. In fact if I get someone like her I will ask to swap midwife as soon as I know there's a problem and will kick up an enormous stink if they say they can't. I think I was much too polite last time!

However all the midwives I met, with exception of this one, were absolutely lovely. So I feel it's unlikely that I will get someone as incompetent as her next time.

HTH.
