My friend is 38 weeks pregnant and i'm around her house for dinner, she's really suffering with period pains - to the point she cant get comfortable or sit down for any length of time.

Any thoughts? Solutions?

I'm 35+2 and my braxton hicks feel like period pains, what have hers felt like? I've never been in labour but could she perhaps be in early labour?

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 19/11/2011 18:49

Erm go to labour ward for assessment! Try bouncing on the birthing ball if she has one? Is she getting waves of pain she has to breathe through?

Jaquelinehyde · 19/11/2011 18:50

Oooh welcome to what it feels like to be in Labour Grin

Jaquelinehyde · 19/11/2011 18:51

Do not go to the Labour ward please, just give the midwife or labour ward a quick call for reassurance they will tell you when you need to go in.

VivaLeBeaver · 19/11/2011 18:51

Solution.......have a baby?

If it is the real thing then food and rest when possible would be my best advice.

In fact food and rest is a good solution regardless of problem Grin

hot bath

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 19/11/2011 19:22

Does she not have a bouncy ball? They are the best thing!

PurpleWithaBlueBun · 19/11/2011 19:23

Oh she can take paracetamol or cocodamol, a bath can slow things down if too early sometimes.

Oh god, I've just read this post and then started to cry because this is going to happen to me at some point!!!!!!! Only 24 weeks so still a way off though, I hope. Hope all goes, or is going, or has gone well x

lchats · 20/11/2011 10:54

Thanks all. Me too MrsRV - I'm 30 weeks so know how you feel.

Glad to say she gave birthday to a health baby boy (6llbs/11oz) at 3am this morning, so you were all on the money!

Thanks again!
