If you had a show first (either just before or a few days/weeks before) with your first pregnancy did you have the same with your second preg? And same question about waters, if your first labour started with your waters breaking is that how you second started too?
Thank you

bumping, because i want to know too.

discrete · 19/11/2011 18:43

no show, but first labour started with waters breaking and in second they broke as the baby came out.

stripeywoollenhat · 19/11/2011 19:45

thanks discrete - i'm 38 weeks today and as i recall had a show the day before labour last time, waters broke about half hour before dd arrived. just wondering if it'll be the same this time - not necessarily, obviously...

FingandJeffing · 19/11/2011 21:15

Show with 1st, waters broke second time, completely different.
Good luck.

discrete · 19/11/2011 21:16

No labours can be very different! Good luck with the birth.

Show about 5 days before labour with dd1, and waters broke near the beginning of contractions, about 2 hours before she arrived. With dd2 I had the show and my waters broke after about 4 hours of labour and then she arrived straight after. I guess every labour can be different! Good luck!

LoveBeingAFirework · 19/11/2011 21:39

No totally different!

Dd - no show, waters went after about 3 hours of contractions.

Ds - a show and waters went as pushing!

girlsyearapart · 19/11/2011 21:49

Have had 3 & never had a show.
Dd1 had backache all night & medium contractions and while me & Dh were arguing about going to hospital ( I said no as it was my due date & I didn't actually believe it was real) when waters broke.
Baby born 6 hours later.

Dds 2 & 3 both born about 3-4 hours after waters broke with no sign that it was going to happen beforehand.

Now 37 weeks almost & on wed night was sure waters had gone but scan shows enough water still there so I'm none the wiser!

showtunesgirl · 19/11/2011 22:18

I've been showing since 38 weeks and now I'm 41 + 1 and STILL waiting.

girlsyearapart · 20/11/2011 06:48

That is harsh showtune..
What number baby is this?

Flubba · 20/11/2011 07:06

Nope - sorry! 1st labour was textbook. A show, then waters breaking a few hours later then contractions
2nd labour contractions (no show and no waters breaking)
3rd labour - various mini shows then a few days later contractions then waters broke mid-labour just before baby arrived.

blushingbaby · 20/11/2011 08:51

Thanks all, very useful info as i was wondering if i needed to wait for a show, then like showtune would have ages to wait afterwards anyway!

This is my first baby.

From what I've read, some people never really do show and others like me have lots. Also the time spans of when you do go into labour once you do show vary massively from a few hours later to still waiting!

As the weeks have gone by, the mucus has got more snotty like but NO baby. It's far too comfy in there so tomorrow is induction day at 41 + 3.

girlsyearapart · 20/11/2011 21:43

Especially hard when it's the first baby you just keep reading the book & wondering what the hell is going on!
I waited for a show that never happened though I don't know which is worse.

Best of luck with the induction

1st DS waters broke 2 days before. No show.
2nd DS waters broke during pushing. Show 2 days before.
