Pregnant and scared!

Just found out I'm pregnant, after trying for 3 months and now I'm panicking!! I do want another baby (DD is 2 and a half) but now there's another one on the way I'm only seeing the bad stuff - loss of freedom, not being able to afford to work with childcare costs, loss of social life. Please help me see the good side! I know I'm being selfish and weird!

I was exactly the same. I got pregnant when dd1 was only 7 months. I am due in 3 weeks and dd1 is now 15 months - I know it is going to be hard work but worth it in the end (I hope - too late now! )

For months, I didn't 'engage' with this pregnancy but all of a sudden became quite excited - and am very excited now!

FWIW, I think you are having a 'normal' reaction - you just cut your cloth accordingly etc.

Yes, DD was not planned and threw us into a complete panic, and now I seem to be reliving all the same feelings. I was determined I was going to be happy the second time too...

I went through stages of this with every pg. Sit down and work out your finanaces and plan how you will arrange social time when the baby is born now. Then instead of worrying about it, you can have it all sorted in advance. Usually th reality isn't as bad once you look into it properly.

Minko - I know exactly how you feel, i have a ds who is 3 yrs & we were trying for number 2 when i fell pregnant i was totally scared i cried but unfortunatly i miscarried at 5.5 weeks. We waited about 2 months & tried again it toke us about 4-5 months to fall again but when it happened i was shocked (i don't know why cause we had been trying)

I went through all the emotions of how will i cope, is this really what i want, i am going to have to do all the feeding, waking nights, nappies again.

To be honest i am 38 weeks now & these emotions have been with me now & then through this pregnancy, but now with 2 weeks left to go i am so excited & just want my baby here, i am bored & feel this baby is now going to complete our family.

Don't panic you will cope its a matter or having to routine is a good thing, you will be fine & wont look back.

Congratulations by the way & goodluck with the rest of your pregnancy when is your baby due?

Thanks for your support girls. I am feeling a bit more optimistic. I like the suggestion of looking at baby pics! Sorry to hear about your miscarriage Mum2, that certainly makes me realise I do want this baby... By my calculations baby is due 11th September - bit of an omen of a due date...
