Test results after 12 week scan

I'm having my 12 wk scan on Tuesday and we were planning to "go public" immediately after having it, assuming all is ok. But then it occurred to me that perhaps we won't get the results of the scan and/or nuchal test on the day? Do we get results straight away and if not how long should we have to wait? This is my first, so pretty clueless about it all!

Depends. Are you a high-risk catagory (age, family history, previous history of genetic issues etc). They should tell you your nuchal result if you ask and will usually tell you unprompted anyway. My songrapher was very reassuring with ours. If you're not having the bloods done and/or and there are no risk factors and there are no issues on the nuchal measurement, then go for it. If you are having the bloods done and there are issues, then they're usually very quick in calling you if there is an issue (within 2-3 days), but that's not guaranteed. It took 3 weeks for my results to come though and I was low risk according to measuring and bloods.
Usually sonographers KNOW this is a thing of concern for parents, and will disclose immediatly if they see an issue and will refer you back to your MW team for an urgent appointment. But remember, it's your body, your notes and you have the right to know what they're writing...my results got stuck in my green hand-held notes.

I was told it would be later the same week if there was a problem, or two weeks for confirmation that everything was fine.

We told people anyway as the scan itself was fine.

I had my results on the same day but I guess it varies from hospital to hospital.

also, if worried, you might want to have a look on the ante-natal testing threads. Though be warned, there will be stories of high nuchal measurements. I'd wait until after the appointment as there's no point in scaring yourself. But it's there.

Ok thanks for your replies! Think we'll wait until at least the end of the week before telling most people then. Assuming of course, that it's all ok, which I really hope it is- getting a little nervous now! Hmm

I waited two weeks for the letter saying all OK. I think they ring you within a couple of days if there is a problem.

My blood test results saying low risk arrived in the post just short of a week later.
To be honest, if it looks ok on the nuchal scan I think the blood test is almost certainly going to be fine. If all is well with your scan I would reckon you can go public straight away.
