braxton hicks on ultasound scan

just had a scan and it showed a braxton hicks contraction (iam 16 weeks), it looked like a big lump in the middle of my uterus and the baby was sort of 'stuck' one side of it. Has anybody else ever had this? it looked like the baby hardly had any space, the sonographer said it was normal but it really worried me, she explained it was just a lump where the wall of my uterus was contracting but this is my fourth baby and ive never seen that on a scan before ?

Yup, totally normal. Most women won't feel them until much later, and usually don't until they're coordinated. I had it at 12wks on the scan. By the end of the scan the BH had gone. 16wks is about when most women start to get proper coordinated BHs, but it varies and most women will not notice them at this point. By 20wks they were properly coordinated and I could/still can feel the whole lot tensing and releasing, but some women never feel BHs.
Baby def. has plenty of space, don't worry. Mine's still flipping about easily at 31wks, though admittedly is a little quieter during BHs.
If the BHs get irritating, then just change what you're doing. Lie down if walking about, if sat I've found walking about eases it.

No problem! Freaked the shite out of me when I saw it on the monitor too! Was very reassured when it had gone!
