The venue for the christmas meal is 10 mins from the hospital 25 mins from home.

Thinking I might not feel like it on the day or will I feel terrible on the day or will I like something to take my mind off everything if I go into labour!
What does everyone think!! What should I say. Or has anyone had experiance of going a meal on due date or any experiance of how they felt?? Thanksxxx

I had my due date a week ago and I was running around doing shopping. However, it's a totally unpredictable thing so would your work place be ok if you bowed out at the last minute?

Also do bear in mind that only 5% of babies are actually born on their due date.

I had to make plans, it was DS1's birthday. I felt a bit rough, but that probably because I was in early labour. DS2 was born the next day Grin

Is it something you could say yes to, but back out at the last minute if you're not up for it?

Well I have my brother and his 5 year old twins arriving to stay for 3 days before my due date and they'll be here for 10 days (due 21st Dec). I have, however, not booked to do any of the planned activities they're doing whilst they're here, if I'm still pregnant when they arise then I'll pay on the day. Do you have to pay up front or just on the day? I'd be a bit annoyed if I'd paid out for a meal and then couldn't go and lost the money but that's just mean, I'm a right skinflint :)

I'm assuming it's your first, so slightly more likely than not to be late. Assuming you're feeling fine ATM then like pruney I'd plan on going unless you have to commit to paying for it. The odds of you being whooshed into hospital and giving birth in no time flat are tiny.

I went out for a meal on my due date and went to a wedding 5 days after my due date. Ds finally arrived 9 days late. See how you feel closer to the time. You may feel totalky fed up and wanting to hide in the house. If the restaurant is that close to home and hospital then you shouldn't have any problems getting there.

I carried on as normal and pretended 'due date' didnt exist! I was 6 days late (my first) and I think its important for your snaity to carry on as you want to - obv if you dont feel like it then dont go! Hope you have fun x

pruney1977 · 18/11/2011 19:05

maybunny I'm sort of trying to do the same, "due date" is 21st December but am thinking in my head 4th January and when people ask me how long I've got left I say 7 weeks at the most - just watch me go over 42 weeks now :)
