Matilda, which I really really love but he so far didn't like. Yeah!

But still unsure on boys' names, they are so much more difficult I find.

Any ideas anybody? Please?

That is what Heath Ledger ( actor) names his daughter - wanted an 'aussie' name for his little one.....

emkana · 04/01/2006 10:02

I like Matthew, not sure what dh thinks.

God, this naming business would be so easy if it wasn't for dh!

Have to consider as well though that I would like a name that's not too difficult to pronounce for Germans, because I'm German and I would like my family and friends to be able to pronounce the name easily. So any "th" is out really.

Matilda is lovely. I like Jacob, Isaac, Zack, Finlay and Max for boys.

macwoozy · 04/01/2006 10:43

will never go out of fashion, can be made to sound cool as teenagers, and will be taken seriously when they become a barrister!

acnebride · 04/01/2006 11:08

What about Matthias? He could still be Matt in general but it would be easy for Germans, also I'm sure I've come across the odd Matthias in the UK.

acnebride · 04/01/2006 11:10

sorry not sure why i thought matthias would be easy for germans! What is the german for matthew??

emkana · 04/01/2006 12:20

Matthias is quite common in Germany, it's not pronounced as th just as t in this case.

But how would you pronounce it in English?

I like toothyboy's suggestions. Also Andrew, John, Stephen.. old, simple, strong names with character and history.

I love Matilda - you can shorten it to Tilly which is pretty. Heath Ledger's new baby is a(waltzing) Matilda.

cupcakes · 04/01/2006 17:19

ooh Malory - you've got all 3 of ds's names on that list. And in the right order with only one other name between them.
