Hiya I'm 16 weeks + 4 days today and since Saturday iv been sooooo sick, I actually thought I had food poisoning over the weekend but now I'm thinking my morning sickness has started at 16 weeks!! I didn't really get any in the first trimester and thought I had been lucky and escaped it. Does anyone no if morning sickness can start any time in pregnancy or due reckon iv actually just got a tummy bug and it's nothing to so with my baby lol.

One of my pregnancy books does say that some women start morning sickness after 14 weeks (while most others are stopping/slowing) so it sounds possible.

What are your symptoms? Do you feel nauseous and then suddenly vomit now and again, but can just about carry on in between? Or can you not keep anything down, even water? Do you have diarrhea too?

If you have diarrhea and vomiting day and night then I think it's more likely to be a virus or gastroenteritis. If it's more of a constant nausea with occasional vomiting in the day could be morning sickness.

I'd definitely go and see your GP though to get a proper diagnosis, sure it'll clear up soon whatever it is but you don't want to mess around if you've been that sick since the weekend.

You've probably got a tummy bug - it's the time of year for them, and they can last several days.

Morning sickness feels a lot like travel sickness, if you've ever had that. Or a bit like a hangover. Sleeping and eating plain carbs helps or sucking boiled sweets. I'm pretty sure ms can start any time in your pregnancy, though most people get it at the beginning because of the high hormone levels.

Like Hotpink says, if you're not keeping liquid down, you could get dehydrated so get medical attention in the case.

I had morning sickness from day 1 up until 11 weeks..then I thought it had all stopped but it came back with a vengeance at 16 weeks. Midwives said to keep a packet of jelly beans on hand as sickness at this time is often related to low blood sugar. 20 weeks now and only have very fleeting feelings of sickness. :( hope you feel better soon x
