I posted this on another thread but havent had any answers so thought i would ask on a new one..

..For the past hour i have been having dull pains and alot of pressure really low down, also my stomach keeps tightening up when i'm having these pains.
They have been coming every 3-5 minutes. Also pain around my back and right down my legs.

Does this just sound like braxton hicks or could it be real??

ooh it sounds like it could be the start... are they getting any worse or any closer together?

how many weeks are you?

Sorry, should have said i'm 36+5.
They have been 2 mins, then 3, then 5, then 2 again.. i'm not sure.
The pain seems to be getting worse in my lower back though.

Thing is, because i'm under the consultant, if i phone the hospital they will tell me to go straight over, but i hate feeling like i'm wasting their time if its only braxton hicks..

I answered on the other thread (and said start a possibly-live-labour-thread)

Sound like it could be the real thing. What are you under the consultant for (this would make a difference as to whether you could hang on a bit longer to see if it's the real thing or not)

I replied to you on there too :)

I'm under the consultant cause i lost my baby boy at 24 weeks last december.
Everything has been fine this time though!

i'm sorry to hear about your son spicy :( how sad

if i were you i would just carry on timing the pains for the moment and if they are getting any worse or any longer or any closer together then give them a ring and see what they suggest.

Thanks yesterday.

Yeah i think i will, i don't want to be too hasty in phoning them.
I suppose if it's proper labour, it'll only get worse so i'll soon know about it :)

Then why not call the labour ward and ask their advice? If they tell you to come in then go - tell them you're under consultant care and see what they say :)

I think i'll give it another half hour or so and then ring them if they are still bad.
Thankyou for your replies :)

How are you now? At the beginning (I was induced so new what it was) they wernt dead on time. Found them quite irregular but they shud regulate if its the real thing. Have u had a show? Any desperate need to erm empty ur systems? Feel like u cnt sit and settle?

The pains have eased off slightly, more in my back and legs now than my stomach. But it still tightening, and just feeling uncomfortable.

I havent had a "bloody" show just yet but have been losing what i think is the mucus plug for the past week or so. It seems to be coming out gradually.

No, only a desperation to wee every 5 minutes! Definitely can't settle either.
Think i'm gonna have a bath soon and see if it helps any.

I hate not knowing whats going on..

If I was you I'd get checked out. Sounds possible. My labour was in my back, hardly had the early pains in my stomach. Braxtin hicks shouldve eased off by now.

I know, i'm going to phone them now.
I just hate feeling like i'm wasting their time.

My stomach is really tight, and just when i think it can't get any tighter.. it does. Its so uncomfortable!!

I'll see what they say..
Thankyou :)

All my labours have also been in my back, been told each and every time,'oohh that wasn't very strong' by midwives placing their hands on my tummy! Hmm

With DS2 at the point where his head was crowning they then conseeded that I was actually in labour! Shock

Good luck! Grin
