Period pains at 31 weeks

Just wondered if anyone else has experienced this? I?m 31+3 and last night was awoken with what I can only describe as period pains which were in my lower abdomen, lower back and went down my legs as well. It?s exactly the pain I used to get a day or two before my period actually kicked in. In addition to the pain I also felt very nauseous, but wasn?t actually sick. All this was constant, it didn?t come in waves and lasted for over an hour. I woke up this morning and as I was getting ready started to feel period type pains again and have discovered that my nipples are also leaking (only by a very small amount though).

Not sure whether this is just part and parcel of third trimester pregnancy or something I should be more worried about. You get so many odd aches and pains in pregnancy I never know when it?s a sign to investigate or just one of those pregnancy things.

I had this last week (am 31+2) and was quite worried having just been to an antenatal class talking about early labour signs!!

I rang my midwife; she asked the usual questions about whether the baby was moving ok (he was), whether pain was constant (mine was), and about trips to the loo. She told me it sounded like a UTI so to take paracetomol, drink lots of water, stick a hot water bottle on my back, and see how it felt in a few hours - but that I should call back if it didn't work or I was worried.

As it happened, that all sorted it out for me but I'm not saying this is what it would be for you - I would ring your midwife and see what she says.

I had this too, asked my midwife at last appt as I thought it could be braxton hicks and it was, my urine has always been clear right through my pregnancy so I'm sure she was right.
