The itching is killing me

I am 39+6 and I am itching all over.

My legs, my arms, my bump, my bum........its HORRIBLE. I haven't slept for about a week with it. Nothing soothes it not calamine lotion nor cocoa butter nor having a bath

Does anyone know what it is and more importantly does anything stop it?

Thanks

Do it yummy - am just back from the hospital and everything is fine but they shouted at me for not doing something sooner.

Don't wait - get it checked. Apart from anything else they have given me some Piriton so I might actually get some sleep! :)

catgirl It took the piriton a few days to build up in my system but after a few days I didn't know my own comfort at being able to sleep!

catgirl1976 · 15/11/2011 21:16

I can do a few days if there is an end in sight :) I nearly cried with relief when they gave me something! The thought of a nights sleep..........I can't tell you!

(I appreciate once I have had the baby I may not know a nights sleep again for while)

I am off to the Dr's tomorrow as itching again all day so fed up of it.

catgirl1976 · 15/11/2011 23:00

Glad you are going yummy - can't hurt to get it checked and you can't spend another 24 weeks itching

I am looking forward to maybe getting some sleep - I am definatley not as itchy as normal so hopefully the piriton is doing something!

Will let you know how it goes with the baby x

I actually slept last night

I think it was the nicest thing that has ever happened to me

Still a bit itchy but much better than it was plus I think the piriton made me drowsy.....it was lovely :)

No sign of this baby though :(

That baby needs to get his eviction notice! Great you got a sleep, you'll need your energy, hope the piriton isn't making him drowsy too!

MissusTulip · 16/11/2011 23:31

aaaargh PUPP, it's the pits. Things that help - yy to eurax and piriton.

My top tip is to keep your big pregnant belly uncovered and exposed to the air as much as possible, I found this reduced the itching to a nearly tolerable level...

the good news is it got much less itchy after baby came and 3 weeks later tis about gone Smile.

good luck, hope the babies come soon!!!

Quick update, as of yet I have been unable to get an appointment to see anyone and I am still itching like a mad woman as it is not an emergancy in anybody eyes.

What else can I do other than cry and beg for an appointment as I am becoming really worried about what this doing to the LO. Can it be dangerous for the baby as I a so scared that I night loose the baby because of it.

catgirl1976 · 18/11/2011 16:06

Yummy - if it is cholestatis they are not even sure now there is any risk to the baby and if there is it is in labour as there may be a chance of them getting more distressed

Dont worry - as you are not that far a long I dont think there is any risk to your baby. Just insist on an appointment and dont worry - I know its really hard though xx Everything will be fine :)

Hi Catgirl1976 I finally got an appointment and he thinks it is my hormones and suggested using Simple products for the rest of my pregnancy. He has also booked me in for the blood tests on Tuesday.

Smile
catgirl1976 · 18/11/2011 18:57

I was in the same boat for a few weeks. Only thing that helped was a combination of E45 Bath Oil (absolutely no shower gels or soap) followed by E45 Itch Relief cream. I couldn't believe how instant the relief was after first use and haven't suffered since. Good luck!

PamBeesly · 19/11/2011 13:12

Second Poppy I never use shower gels anymore or perfumed soap) I ordered a pine tar soap online (I read about it on a site in America) it was pricy ?18 for 3 but it was wort eevry penny, I still have 2 bars of it left, it lasts for ages. Also I can't say it enough E45 Itch Relief, the difference I felt, I had tried Aveeno loads of other menthol, oatmeal based creams but only E45 worked.
