sleep curve mattress.... feet to foot?

I have a sleepcurve mattress for the Moses basket, but how would you suggest feet to foot? As obviously the head needs to be in the groove, can you 'pad' the bottom of the basket with anything?

If you put your LO in a sleeping bag, they don't need to be feet to foot, as that is done so they can wriggle down under blankets. Never used a sleepcurve, but my DS has always used sleeping bags rather than blankets.
