Hi
Am 37 weeks today, just been to the loo and there was a thick white blob in my knickers, at first I thought it was some tissue that had got left behind after last visit to the loo! lol! as looked quite stretchy...can your mucus plug, or at least part of it be just white? I thought it was meant to be tinged with red/brown??? When I wiped there was a bit more thickish stuff there which was slighty creamy in colour (considered it may just be increased discharge, however seems more than that to me) This is baby number 2 so you'd think I'd know but really cannot remember from last time!! :) opinions gratefully received, not getting excited as know that even if it is it could take awhile longer for anything to kick off, just curious more than anything!
Thanks

No,that sounds like a bit of plug! My MW said they don't always have to have blood in.

morethemerrier · 13/11/2011 11:08

Mine never had blood in it either, was a bit curdly sounds like it may have started to come away, but I was still 10 days away from giving birth.

I was 40 weeks and it was after a sweep! HTH Grin

Don't want to hijack your thread but was about to post a plug related question myself....

Do you always get a show?

naomi79 · 13/11/2011 11:49

could question teacup, not sure on that myself??

can I also ask whether or not you think I should go into work tomorrow...I have 3 days left before going off on Maternity but actual start date of maternity isn't until 20th Nov so it would start a week earlier...what do you reckon? I don'y have any other labour symptoms...yet! just a dull backache but have bad SPD and did some hoovering this morning!! :) might see how the day pans out first....opinions on this would be good too :)

I want to know about this stuff too!

I'm almost 40 weeks and every time I go to the loo I want my plug to have come out!!! Does it always come out before labour or can it happen during? Mine seems to be staying well and truly put! Where is this illusive plug??

harassedandherbug · 13/11/2011 12:21

I'm 34wks with dc4.

Out of 3 births, I've only ever had one show! So no you don't have to have one. It may still be in place or it may have sneaked out Wink. It'll be more jelly like, rather than mucusy which would just be cm. Also v normal in late preg.

But...... having a show is no indicator that labour is imminent I'm afraid. naomi with regards to work, I'd see how you feel. I'm in awe of you lasting this long at work with spd. I've just been signed off at 34wks. Been on crutches for about 10-12 wks, and just had enough.

Hi, my sister said she had mucus plug with DS2 but not DS1 so guess you don't everytime, not much more has happened, got dull low back ache and period like cramp/braxton hicks on and off but managed to go into work, kept my mind busy!! Only 2 days to go before maternity so determined to hang in there! Grin baby has definitely dropped too as can breathe! So I think things have started on their slow course!!
