When should I expect first MW appointment?

Went to GP on thurs to confirm pregnancy and get myself into the system. When I asked about a midwife appointment he said I'd not have anything until my booking scan. With Christmas etc I could be 14 weeks by then! Is that usual?

I asked about an earlier appointment or scan as I had a miscarriage recently, but he said it was unlikely. Maternity services have all changed since I was pregnant with DD 2.5 yes ago, but I definitely met the community MW around 8 wks.

Do I just wait or contact MW direct?

Teuchter (love the name btw!) I had a quick midwife app at about 6 weeks to get me into the system (you skip the GP here) and i didn't have any other appointments or blood taken till my 12 week booking/scan appointment at the hospital.

So it might depend where you are?

Agree 14 weeks sounds a bit late though, as most places seem to do the Nuchal fold check and that is between 10 and 13 weeks I think?

Can you chase up when the scan/booking appointment is?
