Hiya I feel so unwell today & am worried something could be wrong. I'm 16 weeks exactly and for the last 7 hours have had the worst headache iv ever had, and keep getting violently sick. Im not holding anything down not even water, feeling really weak, am freezing then boiling and keep shaking. Don't no if iv got food poisoning or something - really hope so, or this could be the start of something bad.
I didn't really get morning sickness so think it's unlikely that that's started at 16 weeks, if everything is ok with the baby is it dangerous that my stomach is totally empty? Should I keep trying to eat and drink even if I'm not holding it down longer than 10 minutes?

Thanks ladies
Hayley xx

Hi Hayley, sorry to hear you are not well.

There are a lot of nasty tummy bugs going around, my whole family went down with it yesterday, we spent 24 hours vomiting and generally had the day from hell!

Try and just take sips, when my DC are ever sick and I ve had to take them to hospital they have said even a few drops of water are enough to keep you hydrated, try sucking on an icecube/icelollies.

Call NHS direct for more reassurance and advice they may be of more help than contacting your midwife.

Rest and dont worry about baby I am sure it will pass as quickly as it started but if it goes on for longer than 24 hours do seek advice as becoming dehydrated will not be good for you.

Dont worry about eating at the moment, some people who have horrendous morning sickness have very healthy babies despite not being able to keep anything down in those first months.

Hope your feeling better soon x
