Ok I need your help by Christmas I'll be 5 1/2 months and I'm assuming will have a full on baby bump. My partners at Sandhurst and they have a super glam black tie ball for Christmas, I'm going to need a gorg long ball gown - not easy to find at the best of times let alone when it needs to be maternity! Anyone know any websites I could try or have any good ideas? Or does anyone fancy making me a dress lol I'm thinking maybe a maternity wedding shop? Maybe theyl have maternity bridesmaid dresses I couldget away with lol.

Thanks girls - I no it's not a serious problem but it's something I know one of u guys at least will be able to help out with.

Hayley xx

Anything with an empire line was fitting me at 5 1/2. I suppose a lot of shops will do it in the run up to xmas.
Good luck.

Tiffany Rose do some lovely maternity dresses - bit pricey but nice for a special occasion.

This is lovely.

Asos has some good black dresses in various styles.

There's also a bit of choice here.

The Isabella Oliver column dress is lovely, although its a jersey so not sure if it'll be smart enough. It's stunning in the red though, am wearing it to a Christmas wedding at 6 months pg Grin

Normal maxi dress? I wore one to a posh wedding at 8.5 mths (and I was huge). Not sure if something long and flowing would be posh enough though?

In fact secondvtome round I wore very few maternity clothes and instead chose 'normal' clothes that could accommodate my bump

I found a beautiful one on eBay that tied round the middle. It was a strapless satin maxi and absolutely stunning. Good thing was, you could adjust it (I.e. tie it tighter) depending on how big/small your bump is!

Search for the dress above - I can't link as am on my phone!

I'm getting married at 31 weeks in a regular empire wedding dress. Not all bumps are created equal I'm afraid, you might be small you might be large.

I agree that empire line is the way forward. Does it need to be proper full length? A maternity bridesmaid dress, or a nice roomy bridesmaid empire line could be the way forward, but quite pricey, and you won't be able to use it for future RAF occasions. Perhaps ebay?

KatAndKit · 12/11/2011 13:20

ooh tethersend those asos ones are lovely!

localcrackpot · 12/11/2011 15:14

Ooh, what fun! We went to our friend's commissioning ball and it was lovely! I'm sure you know more about it than me but I'd definitely say full length based on that. Also get something very warm in the shrug department as it was unthinkably freezing. I think I cried at one stage I was so cold! Blush

localcrackpot · 12/11/2011 15:16

Just to add- try a normal wedding dress shop. They often know about which styles work with bumps and which can be let out at th last minute if necessary :)

justhayley · 13/11/2011 12:01

Grin thank you all so many pretty dresses - I thought this was going to be a total nightmare but I'm quite excited about getting all dressed up now :) tiffany Rose has lovely stuff - bit pricey but worth it

Just after I had DS I attended a friend's wedding. I went for a floor-length ballgown, with an empire-line style. For once, I looked fabulous. I got mine from Debenhams (luckily in the sale) but I think the full price was less than £100.
