My hospital said to take everything you would need, however they also said that if you were to turn up with nothing at all in the throws of labour they do have the basics. I personally would say leave the bottles at home, you will have enough other things in your bag without taking stuff you may not use. The midwives will help you to breastfeed as much as you need. My DS wouldnt feed for the first day or so and the midwives helped me express & syringe it for him until he got the hang of it.

I asked my midwife at my last appointment if i had to take milk and bottles and she said no!

I live in Scotland not sure where you are and whether this would be different for you.

My hospital doesnt supply milk or bottles. I guess in an emergency they would supply something or you could send your partner/mother/friend out to buy some if its needed.

I didn't take any with DS as I planned to breastfeed. He didn't take to it for the first 2 or 3 days and I was advised to give him some formula whilst we were getting established as he was getting jaundiced - they supplied it. I wouldn't bother, presumably if there is a real problem somebody could bring some in for you?
