I'm 34+1 with my first DC, when did you pack your hospital bag? I've written a list based on advice from here and some other websites but not actually packed it yet.

Not early enough.... When I was in labour at 37 +3. Bit silly really. I would get yours packed nowish. Good luck!

37 weeks. I refused to go into labour before I'd finished my finals so refused even to think about it. I spent the day after my exams were over shopping and packing my bag :)

Pack it and pack it now.

My eldest was born prem, 9 weeks early. I went to hospital with nothing, husband had to get things together and bring it to hospital.
My things arrived in carrier bags and I never had a comb or brush for about 4 days.

Pack it then you can sit back and relax.

I was wondering when to do this as I did it at 40+11 in labour last time and want to try and get it done earlier than that.

pruney1977 · 10/11/2011 20:29

Well good to know I'm not the last first timer to do it. I think I'll do it in the next week or so. That and order the damn cot mattress Blush

After I had been in labour for 28 hours and pushing for 3.
This is not recommended. DP did the packing - I had an economy sized box of breast pads, a Brian Eno CD (wtf?), and I can't think what else. No spare clothes , toiletries, money, nappies, baby clothes...

mumt1 · 10/11/2011 20:33

Haha well with my first it was packed at like errrm 24 weeks, then unpacked and packed again, and again, and again, you no just to make sure it was alll ok ;). I'm now 16+1 and VERY tempted to start packing! Don't ask just is a thing I really look forward to doing.

JentlyDoesIt · 10/11/2011 20:38

Pack it now!!! Tried to pack mine at 36+5 with waters going all over the flat (polyhydramnios so LOTS of waters!) - not recommended. Thankfully DP had a further46 hours to get the bits I'd left behind Wink

MrBloomsNursery · 10/11/2011 20:39

My first was packed at 36 weeks. I was very "laadeedaa" about that whole pregnancy! I went 2 weeks overdue anyway so it didn't matter!

This time I've started packing my bag when I was 30 weeks. Got a feeling this one will be making a early appearance.

edwinbear · 10/11/2011 20:41

With DS, at about 25 weeks, this time around, I did it last week at 38 weeks, although I'm still waiting for my waterproof Ipod to be delivered for the pool.

Pastabee · 10/11/2011 20:50

I packed mine at 36 weeks.

Biscuitsandtea · 10/11/2011 20:56

After repeated warnings from my mother that our family always have babies early, I finally packed my bag at 36+4 - and went into hospital after my waters broke at 36+5 Confused.

I have tried to tell my mum that it was therefore packed in plenty of time, but yet recently enough that we could remember what was in it, but I don't think she bought it...

YougreatPumpkinmousse · 10/11/2011 21:00

DD1 at 28 weeks
DD2 as I was running out the door - I thought she would be late like her sister not early!

GemmaReeto · 10/11/2011 22:18

Mine was all done by 36 weeks, started it at about 34 weeks

justabigdisco · 10/11/2011 22:20

hi pruney i'm 34+2, havent done mine yet, although have been to Boots and made sure I've got everything I need. have got one more (busy) week at work and I will pack it after that!

ZuleikaJambiere · 10/11/2011 22:29

I think I started to make sure all the stuff I needed was bought and somewhere in the house from 30 ish weeks, but didn't pack it for another month or so. My friend had her's fully packed at 30 weeks and broke her leg at 31, so it proved to be quite handy for that hospital trip too

At 15weeks I have a list of what needs to go into the bag and most of the items ready to go. Just need a really nice new bag (why not, if I can't treat myself when can I treat myself. Smile

TheCountessRoyalofBlood · 10/11/2011 22:41

1st time from about 30 weeks ish - 2nd time during labour as rushing out the door - did have the stuff just hadn't packed any of it!!!!! Don't recommend this btw as I didn't take a few things that I really needed but did remember to take a giant bag of twiglets.

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 10/11/2011 23:09

It was early with DS, but cant remember when exactly...

I've started preparing for DC2, who is due in exactly 21 weeks Grin
