Hi all

What the title says really! I seem to be so hungry all the time! I had a healthy cooked lunch including plenty of veg, and since then I have had crisps, mullerlight, apple and banana and yet seem to have felt starving all afternoon!

Surely it's too early for pregnancy to be doing this?!

Thank goodness supper is nearly ready!

I was exactly the same. Couldn't stop eating. Has eased off a bit now (after 40 weeks!!!) but for a while there I was on 8 meals a day. Grin

I don't think it's too early, I have really noticed my increased appetite (I'm 5+4) - not craving anything in particular, just food!

I went for my usual run at the weekend and where I usually start to feel a bit hungry towards the end of the session, this time I got hungry nearly straight away and spent the whole time dreaming about what I was going to make when I got in.

Go with your appetites I say ;)

Koop · 10/11/2011 20:02

Bah, after 30 weeks. I'm not quite 40 weeks yet!

FetchezLaVache · 10/11/2011 20:03

I found I ate LOADS in the first tri- it gets slightly better after 12 weeks, once the placenta's in place and the organs are all finished, but it takes lots of calories to make them all. I found biscuits to be a really good source!

Congratulations, btw!

TingleJuice · 10/11/2011 20:06

I felt the same in both my pregnancies and seemed to crave the most stodgy, carby foods possible! I could have eaten a whole box of potato waffles in one sitting! Grin

Just eat what you can and enjoy it. Hopefully you will be lucky and avoid morning sickness but I had it really badly both times and grazing constantly really helped. Was far worse being hungry.

Congratulations! Wink

I'm exactly the same, I find myself getting so hungry I actually feel sick. If I smell anything cooking I suddenly feel ravenous and sick at the same time. I'm only 5 ish weeks and seriously don't remember it being so bad the last 2 times. Ah well just go with it I say. Congratulations. X

McPhee · 10/11/2011 20:12

I've constantly got food in my face. So much so, that I might need scaffolding towards the end of my first tri Grin

Thanks for the replies, lol, sounds like it isn't just me then!

I just remembered, last night I woke up at half-four and lay there feeling starving until I eventually had to come downstairs for toast and OJ!

Not sure whether to revel in it while it lasts - my mother had really bad sickness for most of her two pregnancies so perhaps I should enjoy food while I still can.

Saying that, I too have felt a bit nauseous with hunger too, it's a really weird feeling Confused

Heh, I was constantly starving early on in my first trimester (nearly 30 weeks now). Has to have snacks handy at all times, and would frequently pop out to get lunch, and end up eating it on the (5 min) walk back to my office, because I was too hungry to wait.

A colleague guessed I was pregnant before I announced it after watching me an entire punnet of strawberries in one go!

It eased off later on, but I'm still ravenous in the mornings - DH says I'm turning into a hobbit, as I have to have "second breakfast" (and sometimes a third!)

louisdog · 11/11/2011 13:41

Ooh I am liking the idea of a second breakfast Grin

Oh yes! The hunger! I was starving all the time from around 5 weeks onwards. At about 8 weeks I had this enormous dinner, ate the whole lot and was still starving! My dh made me wait 30 minutes but eventually went and cooked me a second dinner!!! Blush

Don't try to stop - if you're hungry, eat. Your body will tell you what you need.

I have been starving and feeling nauseous at the same time. I had a stage for a week or o when I couldn't drink water as it made me want to vomit. Luckily that has passed. But I am still very hungry ay 9 weeks.
