Hello
I spent the day before yesterday chucking up everything in my belly (nothing to do with morning sickness, I am now 19 weeks) - I was really quite worried all day because I thought it might be food poisoning and therefore affect the baby. Then that evening ds was sick twice so I now assume this was a bug.
We are both better now but I am wondering if anyone else has had this bug and if bugs like these affect unborn babies?
Thanks for any info.

We are in teh middle of a bout of sickness and diarrhoea - ds2 is just getting over it - seems to be a 48 hour thing and dh has got it - ds1 and i are safe so far but it seems to be pretty grim.

I suffered really bad morning sickness throughout my preganacy and my baby was a healthy 8lb 6oz - I was told that nature has a way of making sure the baby is ok and getting nutrients from your body (bones too!) even if you are not eating so I am sure this short bout wont have hurt the baby. You could always call the midwife if you're concerned though.

hi arabella, yes im pregnant(32 wks) and yes i had the bug.went through our house about 3 weeks ago.:0i rang nhs direct and my midwife and they both said as long as it didnt go on too long baby would be ok.apperntly doesnt bother them too much but it can make you feel worse as theyre taking any nutrients that your getting.oh and to drink plenty to stop dehydration.

My mother had gastroenteritis when she was pregnant with me and lost 2 stone. She didn't have a bump at all until she was 6 months and I was a healthy 8'10.

I should check with your MW but I think I've read (like karenanne) that the baby is protected as they only get the 'good stuff'.

Hope you stay well and enjoy the rest of your pregnancy.
