another question about movement

I am 38 weeks and the baby's movements feel different, much smaller and weaker. They are not less frequent - I'm fairly paranoid so have been very rigorous about doing kick counts etc, and I'm pretty sure that he's moving about the same amount as usual, but they feel much less forceful than before.

I've been thinking that it's probably a question of running out of space - I've got an anterior placenta as well, so presume that muffles things quite a bit. Every time I deliberately wait to feel something, eg by lying down on left side etc, he always moves and always at least 10 in an hour, so I'm not concerned as such, but would like to know if smaller/fainter movements at this stage are usual.

They were for me, I had an anterior placenta with both of mine too. I think at the end all they can do is wriggle rather than give a really good kick because they have ran out of room.

But, that being said, if you are anything less than confident that baby is ok, you should call your MW/labour ward. I had a funny pg last time round and every time I had a concern they were always really lovely, saying I wasn't wasting their time, come in for monitoring. I was very grateful to them.

Just call them if you are worried, they'd rather you call than worry or something be wrong I'm sure.
