37 +2 and been having painful contractions. 'Yippeee' you might think... but they're so bloody infrequent Envy !

I had two yesterday and joked with DH that there's no way I could be so lucky as to have baby at 37 weeks. Then got all excited again this morning because I had three more, about an hour apart. Trouble is they're actually getting less painful and less frequent as the morning goes on. The last one was about 2 hours ago now... grrr....

Anyway, just a rant really - sorry! Blush

Oh, also just wanted to complain at how painful they are - they make me stop what I'm doing and I have to breath through. God, if my body's going to tease me I wish it would do it without quite so much bloody pain involved Angry !!

have you spoken to a MW just to check they're happy with this? I'm sure it's fine, but I'd be fed up by now too and would want to know that I could just be cross rather feeling like maybe I should be worried IYSWIM.

I am coming up to 34 weeks and I am having strong braxton hicks, 1 or 2 an hour of the evening...dont have them during the day..say for the past week...MW reassured me of this, just give the delivery suite a ring to put your mind at rest !!!

The only positive is that it means things are happening, even if you aren't ready for the main event quite yet :)

banana - thanks, that's a good way of looking at it Smile

xyz2011 - It sucks doesn't it? I've been having frequent BH since I was about 24 weeks, think I have an irritable uterus as they're every few minutes many evenings. I had this in my last pregnancy too but it was worse as I was having twins...

Oeisha - I have a MW appointment this morning so I'll talk to her about it then Smile

Hi flipping! Feel free to read my thread starting hate, hate, hate prolonged latent labour..! I'm afraid to say I'm now coming up 39wks and been having same prob since about 35wks, (so a good mth of it!!) Also had a show and many other signs grrr!! Apparently, according to my MW, this prob can get worse the more babies you have..(I'm on 4th and last!) and is certainly true of my labour with DD3 20mths ago and this one! Find it so difficult and wish my bod would just leave me alone til the big day! My contractions have also been v strong and painful spreading down uterus and v strong low down, (like I can almost feel my cervix opening!) On the plus side, last time I only had little over an hr and half of seriously painful labour last time and was already 9cms on first examination!..(just hope it's same this time but as you rarely get two labours the same, I doubt it! :()

Hi twogirls

Gosh, that must be so frustrating! It's the not knowing that's torture! Could be now, could be in 5 weeks. Could be a nice easy labour and quick recovery, could be an absolute nightmare with episiotomy/c section to recover from... I just want it over with so I can rid myself of the anxiety of "what kind of birth will it be?".
Hope you go nice and soon, looking forward to hearing your news!

flipping...MW also suggested that I get tested for a urine infection(which I dont think I have) as this can cause contractions...I have got appointment at clinic next week so will get that checked, mine a strong but only last 20 secs or so but I feel that they shoot right through my lower back...very irregular, say a couple an hour, then they may ease for a few hours, dont have them in the day, just early evening and maybe late say after midnight...
good luck with the birth x

I was like this with 3rd pregnancy. On off intense but infrequent contractions started at 35 weeks and hospital kept me in but stopped again next day. baby was born at 37+6 in record time (vba2c!!). Def think early contractions sped up eventual labour...
