I know it's part and parcel of pregnancy- I just didn't expect to experience it so soon! (20 weeks).

Does anybody have any have any useful tips for helping to ease the pain? I'm booked in for an antenatal massage tomorrow, I hope that helps but not sure if it's a viable longterm solution for the next 20 weeks!

Smile hi my pain started roughly 4 weeks ago and I'm 24 weeks today so the same stage as yours, nothing really helps to be honest apart from the maternity pillow that eases the pain a little when I lie down Envy
Do u have to pay for this massage? Because I think I really need it myself!

Hi Diana,

Yes I've booked it myself at a spa place. To be honest, i've had such a hard time throughout this pregnancy that I was planning to treatmyself to one anyway but now i'm hoping it will serve an actual purpose! I'll let you know how it goes tomorrow.

Which pregnancy pillow do you have? Thinking of getting one of those too!

I just bought one from Argos for £20 but had to buy the pillow case else where Blush
Anyway it has helped a little but not massively and that's only when I'm
Laying down
It's my first pregnant and iv always wanted two kids atleast after what I have been going through with this one I might have to reconsider and stick just to the one lol Grin

I'm 25 weeks and also struggling. I didn't get back pain til about 8 months with DD but it's happened so much sooner this time - probably because with a toddler to look after I'm not looking after myself. The best things for me are swimming, aqua natal and sitting on a bouncy birth ball instead if the sofa

it might also help to do the 'tummy' exercise - transverse abdominus or sthg- they tell you about it at the physio class that some hospitals offer (I think you could google/youtube it). I luckily don't have constant pain but it certainly helps to do it just when you're about to bend down or pick up sthg heavy which is what does my back in.

Am around 22 weeks and was also getting back pain. A friend recommended a bump support band which has been brilliant! I got one in Mothercare for £12.

I have had both massage and Physio both have really helped.

A hot water bottle has been my saviour - it really makes a difference.

DianaXXX · 05/11/2011 11:50

I will try anything to stop suffering Sad

hairylights · 05/11/2011 12:51

diana I felt like that - Physio has really helped as they have shown me daily movements to do which are specific to the pain and it really made a big difference.

www.pilates-back-joint-exercise.com/cat-stretch.html

I find the above exercise really helps with my back pain, if I do it daily. According to spinning babies it is totally safe in pregnancy, and may help baby positioning.

Hello youremindme :)

That's one of the exercises that's really helped me.

Diana either via your GP or find a private practice. IRS
£25 a session where I go... I could have been re-referred but didn't want to wait.
