for all women or over 35s?
When did this begin?
Is it just in some areas?

It is for all women at my hospital but I got the impression this is a policy that is set regionally?

louby86 · 04/11/2011 06:50

It's for all women where I live too. I even got called back on another day to have an extra scan because baby was too wriggly to get an accurate NT measurement at my first scan.

Iggly · 04/11/2011 06:52

Everyone gets one here - you don't have to though but I don't think you get a normal scan at 12 weeks. It's always a NT and you're sent to the local teaching hospital for one.

rumcrumble · 04/11/2011 07:10

Where I live you don't, even if over 35.

PotteringAlong · 04/11/2011 07:24

Depends where you are - I got it, best friend lives 5 miles down the road but different health authority and she didn't!

CosmicMouse · 04/11/2011 07:25

Depends where you live. My trust didn't offer the Nuchal Translucancy part in 2009 when I was pregnant with my daughter, but I was offered it at my recent 12 week scan with this baby. We declined.

misdee · 04/11/2011 07:27

north herts offer a NT or a dating scan. i only had the dating scan last week as am over 13weeks (15 weeks 2 days at the scan)

hairylights · 04/11/2011 07:48

Not here.

Sandra2011 · 04/11/2011 08:14

Here in Wiltshire it's only for women over 40.

KatAndKit · 04/11/2011 08:15

Depends on your area. My area offers it to all women at the 12 week dating scan as standard. You can still have a 12 week scan if you don't want the NT screening and just have the blood test. Some areas don't offer it to anyone at all.

PieMistress · 05/11/2011 19:35

I think it depends on where you live. When I was pregnant with DS it wasn't offered on the NHS so I had to pay privately for it (but at the NHS hospital!) however they now offer it as routine in Grampian for everybody so things have changed.

EdlessAllenPoe · 05/11/2011 19:41

where i am - yes, everyone who wants

justhayley · 07/11/2011 22:04

I'm in west Herts and everyone is offered regardless of age I had it at my 12 week scan

chocjunkie · 07/11/2011 23:19

My trust does not offer it. We did it private. it seems to be a postcode lottery.

DejaWho · 08/11/2011 11:14

Got the choice of a "normal" dating scan or the NT one here - also have an express referral route from the recurrent miscarriage clinic (cutting out the midwife referral part of the loop) as there's an acceptance that those women may have a different perspective on things like amnio than those coming in off a first pregnancy.

We've decided to go for the NT scan but will not go for the follow ups if there's an increased risk shown.
