Buscopan in 3rd trimester

I'm 29wks pregnant and have bene prescribed buscopan for IBS. Today was my 3rd admission to triage with abdo pains and vommiting. I'm just not 100% happy taking it, as according to the MW I spoke to, when I said "not if there's a risk to baby", she said there wasn't one really. Doctor didn't have any problems prescribing and there was no mention of any risk to baby.
Now, reading the leaflet, it seems to indicate exhausting all other avenues and only prescribing if consultant thinks the benifits outweight the risks...but what risks??? Any ideas?

Pain's not too bad now.
Been taking paracetamol and codeine for it up until today, so might just keep going with that, but those 2 weren't working this morning at all and buscopan's always helped my IBS attacks in the past when not pg!

Can you take lactulose instead? Is it constipation you need the Buscopan for or the IBS pain?

IME I have listened the the GP. If they say its ok to take, it usually is.

It's not constipation alas...though I often do get constipated. But this ios for relatively sudden onset pain. It's ok but frustrating to begin with, so I can ususlly get 1 round of meds down before all hell breaks loose with vommiting bile and sobbing like a loon.

Here is the prescribing information for it. See under pregnancy and lactation. Hope it is of some help and hope you are feeling more comfortable soon.
