I think I may have just had a show. I have phoned the hospital and they have told me to keep an eye on it! I went to the loo and had bright red blood like a period. No pains or any other signs.

Is it normal to have a show before any pains or other signs of labour?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Hi franchini

A show is normally mucus (plug) streaked with a bit of blood - keep an eye on the bleeding (especially if bright red/ heavy) if it continues - because it could be more serious.

Woodifer · 03/11/2011 06:16

sorry meant to add - at our antenatal class they said to not even ring for a show (unless bright blood) because it could be a few days before things get moving.

Bright red blood would concern me, as its not very 'show like'. I would insist on being checked out, tbh.

I have phoned the midwife again and she still said not to worry. It has gone darker now. No other signs so it is just a waiting game!

I'd go and get checked just to be 100 percent sure. Remember you are in charge, not the midwife!

banana87 · 03/11/2011 10:33

The plug us more snot like in consistency and can have steaks of blood. Period blood is NOT normal. Go get checked.

Mum1369 · 03/11/2011 18:33

How are you Franchini?

Mum1369 · 06/11/2011 23:00

Did you get checked?
Are you ok ?

Mum1369 · 11/11/2011 09:28

Anyone heard from Franchini since this? Was wondering how she was

Franchini · 26/11/2011 12:55

Sorry everyone - really should have replied before. Little daughter was born on 6/11/11 at 5.07 pm after 14 hour labour ending in a forcep delivery. We are both doing well now.
