Apologies in advance for TMI. I had IVF due to DP's unsuccessful vasectomy reversal and got PG first go about 3 weeks ago. The official dating makes me 6 weeks today. I have had brown discharge with some tissue in it, but no red blood, this lasted for over a week and now seems to be stopping. I have done about 400 POAS all, strong positives. The thing that is hugely bothering me is my breasts are NOT SORE!!!!! It's driving me mad and that combined with the discharge makes me fear the worst. Only other symptoms I have are very mild AF type feelings, sense of smell like a dog, precisely twice a day, a bit tired and bit (unusually) spotty. Still have over a week to wait until my viability scan. GOING MAD........ anyone been through similar? xx

Sounds pretty textbook to me. I've never really had sore boobs (now five months pg), it used to worry me but I discovered (mostly through MN) that everyone is different and it's by no means an 'essential' symptom.

I had brown/pink/red spotting for about a week, never heavy but persistent. I got it checked out and they never found out what it was. If yours is stopping this is great, probably something to do with early implantation or a bit or cervical erosion triggered by the new hormones.

Increased sense of smell is an excellent sign (just wait 'til smells trigger nausea too...); AF type feelings are apparently stretching, I had these and they are apparently normal too. Tiredness and spottiness all good too!

So....congratulations! You are up the duff and no mistake. Concentrate on those strong positives and try to relax. It is very early days at 6 weeks - I didn't start getting morning sickness until a while after this and remember some people get NO symptoms and have totally normal and successful pregnancies.

Take care and good luck!

Thanks for replying, really kind.... I'm totally over emotional too, so perhaps that's another good sign!

Yep, definitely! TTC is such a roller coaster too, I remember all too well what that's like so it's completely understandable at only six weeks you are a bit anxious about it all. Take your pre-natals, do some positive thinking for the baby and that viability scan will come around and show a little flickering heartbeat before you know it Smile

Polly,
Stop worrying. That's the worst thing - stress hormones do more harm than anything, according to my mw's. Easier said than done tho :)
My DD is 9 weeks old. In my first trimester I had NO sickness (1 whole hour of feeling a little nauseous one Sunday), my skin went to shit and I was unbelievably mardy, but that's it. No other symptoms whatsoever.
My pg was after fertility treatment as well (IUI, not IVF though)
Everyone is utterly different, just as all babies are different.
Congratulations too :)

Mardy, shit skin, memory like a 90 year old..... that's me!

just wanted to say that with my first i didn't get sore boobs until 9 weeks and with my second nothing at all!
I also bleed with both of them, with my second i went in to the EPU to have a scan as i was so worried, also didn't have any pregnancy symptoms so i wanted to get it checked and they told me they couldn't see the fetus, nothing was there so i was miscarrying, i decided to let it happen naturally so they booked me in for another scan 10 days later to make sure it was all gone and clear... went back in to see a little baby bouncing around with a very strong heartbeat! couldn't believe it! I was still bleeding at the time so don't worry about the blood bit because sometimes it just happens!
Im sure you and your little bean will be just fine! good luck with a happy and healthy pregnancy! x
