When to go on maternity with twins

Hi, I am 22 weeks with identical twins. All is well but the strain takes its toll by the end of the day and my back hurts & I ache all over. It's all pretty tolerable though!
My question is when have other peoPle gone onto maternity leave? Or when do people plan to?
I've been told that although 40 weeks would bring me to 6th march, I've been told that they'll come at 36 weeks, so early February.
Any advice?

I would go about 34 weeks if your twins will be delivered about 36, as long as you are feeling ok still.
Very normal to be aching all over, I have been signed of for 5 weeks and I am only 21 weeks as my body is just not up to it!
I went at 38 weeks, with my first which was fine although DD didn't make an appearance until 42 weeks Hmm
Good luck!

Thats good advice- thank you. I suppose if I leave too early, Im going to be bored sitting around at home waiting for it to happen!

That is what happened to me, very fed up! Also, you can start Maternity leave 4 weeks earlier if you go off sick which is a benefit if needed. :)

I was due to go on mat leave at 32 weeks, I had 4 weeks annual leave so official mat leave to start at 36. In the end I got signed off at 27 weeks and twins arrived at 31! I think it really depends how you cope with the pregnancy as it progresses, my back completely gave out and I couldn't even walk to the station, let alone stand on the train and cope with the tube.

Mat leave will kick in as soon as the babies arrive regardless of when you hope to start maternity leave.

To be honest, I think you should be prepared for them to put in an appearance before 36 weeks! I had TTTS but even before that my hospital policy for IDs was 36 maximum.

I would say when you feel like it personally its hard to judge everyone differentxx
