My best friend's just found out she's 10 weeks PG and I was thinking of putting together a little pack of treats for her and stuff she might need to help make the next 30 weeks a bit easier.
I was thinking skin creams, supplements and special 'me time' treats.
What would you recommend? What would you want to have?

Acupuncture and crumpets with melted cheese (not at the same time!) :)
Bliss.

marthastew · 01/11/2011 20:28

Agree with the Dream Geni suggestions and soft nightie.

Get her the Mumsnet 'Babies' book. I wish it had been the only one I read. By far the best baby book.

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 01/11/2011 20:29

I suspect I have not read the thread properly Grin Blush

Definitely recommend a pregnancy journal, also my favourite gifts were a pregnancy massage and the elemis japanese camillia oil, heaven. Another vote for pedicure too. Top of my treat list for this pregnancy is a pair of palazzo lounge pants from here - meandem
gorgeous material and can cover up bump with the soft band in winter.

MrsWifty · 01/11/2011 20:39

Liptons warming lemon and ginger tea - did wonders for my morning sickness and a lovely caffeine free treat in winter months too.

Yy to the mumsnet babies book - I got it when my DD was 7 weeks and wished I had read it beforehand. I sat reading it and periodically laughing out loud - my DH commented that was the first time he had heard me laugh since I had DD. Made me feel much less alone.

Clarins do an amazing leg cream that feels really really really fantastic on tired or swollen legs. It tingles and makes them feel really light. I can't remember the exact name but it is blue. Maybe rejuvenating leg gel - not sure.

yogabonkers · 01/11/2011 21:56

i had 2 pregnancy massages they were so good!.

i also liked a nice relaxation cd with harp music and stuff (the kind you can get in card shops). used to listen to it curled up on the couch with the cat curled up at my bump!

and you cant beat baby mags and chocs. some nice bubble bath. ooh, sounds amazin!

Mamma Mio tummy rub, crystallised ginger, some nice, comfy PJs!

brianmayshair · 02/11/2011 09:17

What a lovely idea, you are a lovely friend. I've just been given a box set( downton can't wait to watch), a box of M&S truffles a pedicure the covent garden mum stuff and a bunch of roses by my amazing colleagues for my mat leave present I feel very spoiled and very much appreciated.

Pregnancy massage and acupuncture are also lovely or perhaps a voucher for pregnancy yoga, these are things I look forward to most in my week.

Whathashappenedtomyboobs · 02/11/2011 13:10

thegingerone · 02/11/2011 16:50

My work collegues gave me a gorgeous baby blanket which is soon to have a third owner when i went on mat leave nine years ago. Yes it is for baby but I slept with it for the last few weeks. It was sooooo soft and baby was happy to be tucked up in it once born.

I also vote for the chocolate and body tmt ideas, Tell her to eat the chocolates early in preg though. If she gets heartburn like me she'll not enjoy them as much later on!!!

Pinklila · 02/11/2011 17:48

Some fab ideas here. This box of goodies is starting to take shape! Thanks everyone.

Ooh - my OH paid for me to have reflexology in the latter stages of my pregnancy. Heaven. Absolute heaven. It even relieved my SPD pain. I was so grateful!

cerealqueen · 03/11/2011 09:42

Agree, one of those snakey body pillows and for anybody feeling very flush, a memory foam mattress topper for those later months.
Reflexology is lovely too.

LaCiccolina · 03/11/2011 10:47

Soft socks. Voucher for a pedicure and a ladyscaping nearer the due date when she realises everything is on show and she's hasn't seen either for months...

Chocolate of course and please make sure her other half has got her a phone capable of email/facebook/internet. She will go mad otherwise once she's had it and is strapped to the sofa for a few weeks.....

LittlePipp · 03/11/2011 11:33

Anything from Bloom and Blossom! www.bloomandblossom.com
I got a Bloom and Blossom gift set as a maternity leaving gift from work - wish someone has got it for me at 10 weeks :)

DitaVonCheese · 03/11/2011 12:13

I loved my Lazy Daisy classes - particularly as it was my second pregnancy so it was lovely to have some time to concentrate on me and the pregnancy. Very relaxing too. If you have classes local to you the teacher might do a gift voucher maybe?

DitaVonCheese · 03/11/2011 12:14

Lazy Daisy - should prob have put that in last post, sorry!

spookshowangellovesit · 03/11/2011 12:23

thats really lovely of you by the way.

Tinkerisdead · 03/11/2011 17:43

Just came back to this and i think i may well make my own kit! Just need dh to take dd off so i can indulge. Think it was before she was born i last sat in bed reading by lamplight. I may get a lovely book bath stuff and snuggly nightie. Eat a whacking box of chocs in bed then drink gaviscon and throw myself backwards and forwards trying to get comfy.
