The coil (IUD) and pregnancy

Hi
Some back ground for you...

I'm 26, just got married, I had a miscarriage 5 years ago and I'm currently using the coil (the copper one).

For my wedding in september I took my doctors advice and went back on the pill to stop me having my period over my wedding. Silly me forgot 1 pill the week of the wedding so ended up having period anyway :(!

I went on honeymoon at beginning of august and had a normal period.

I'm due any day now for this months period but I feel odd...

My belly is larger than usual, I'm getting a lot of twinges down below, very similar to the aches I got when I first had coil fitted but not as bad.

I had alcohol at the weekend and had a large red wine today before it dawned on me that I might actually be pregnant.

I'm going to leave it a few days before doing a test to make sure the alcohol is out of my system but what I would like to know is:...

Is it possible that I could be pregnant with the coil? I know nothing is ever 100% accurate but I'm so concerned that if I am I will have another miscarriage.

We hadn't planned on having a child until I was nearer 30 so we can enjoy being married first.

Does anyone have any advice or just some kind words...I don't want to stress out but if I'm not pregnant I'm a bit worried about the large belly (it's def not wind!!!)

xxx

I really think its highly unlikely that you are pregnant as you were taking the pill and had a coil fitted even if you did miss one. The funny sensation is more likely to be that running 2 packs of the pill together like that has messed your body up a bit.

I think the chance is small to, u where taking the pill and the coil, that's a lot of hormones for your body to take which I've heard can cause preg symptoms, I had the implanon implant for 1yr n hlf n always convinced myself I was preg cz I showed all the symptoms. Until I did a bit of research, and apparantly sometimes the contraceptives can trick ur body in thinking its pregnant so you have a few symptoms. Obviously do a test to be safe as its never 100% accurate.my first thought was...maybe as u was taking the pill, and missed a day(which isn't major) but u had a period, so the sudden loss of them hormones MIGHT of made ur body release an egg but I doubt that very much. I've never had the coil so dnt no much, but contemplating having it in once had this baby!
