Food optimise - that way the pounds you gain aren't due to as much fat. That's the theory but it didn't work for me. Loads of jacket potatoes and satisfying free foods. I did try but I couldn't stick to it. Now I'm pregnant again and am starting with 3 stones to lose from the last pregnancy. I'm trying not to worry and just fill up on healthy foods but I am craving junk. Badly. And I am too tired to prepare healthy chips! However, this is baby no.7 and so I am consciously avoiding stress as much as possible. Congratulations and good luck Smile.

I couldn't stick to it. Cravings for cake and Irn Bru saw to that! But like God. I put on the weight and have been struggling to lose it so if you can stick with it (three years - good girl!) then you might at least minimise the damage. Ditto on the congrats and good luck!

Hi I went to slimming world all through my 1st pregnancy and I think it helped me not to put on too much weight. I also continued when babay was born and lost my preg weight very quickly.
Good luck

Hi - did you have to pay when you were pregnant?

I'm pregnant and still go to SW.

Yes you have to pay. You follow extra easy but you get to have 2 a's and 2 b's daily instead of the usual 1 a and 1 b.

Hi ... Iam not sure whether I am going to keep going, i will put weight on and i aAm not prepared to pay five pounds a week for the next 7 months, that would ccome to 140 pounds which i am sure i could put to better use when baby arrives!!! I dont think its right that they charge pregnant women!!!!

It depends what you get out of it. For me it is as much a social activity as anything else (I go to a lovely group - we go out for curries together and the like), so I'm happy to pay my fiver even 'though I'm not sticking to the plan religiously by any means.

Plus it helps keep me motivated to eat healthily during pregnancy when all I want to do is scoff cake. I'm hoping to get the slimmer of the month awrd in December after I drop ;)

I chose to leave SW when I found out I was pregnant, mainly because I didn't want to have to start paying £5 a week!
I know your consultant can help you if you let them know your pregnant.
I'm 26 weeks now I've managed to keep following it loosely, evening meals have been the same and still get lean meat/ low fat snacks, etc but have as much dairy and fruit juice as I want but I don't deny myself treats!

Why on earth should they not charge you because you're pregnant? If you're having weight issues anyway then they'll just get more of your money after birth when you have to shed all the weight you've put on. If going to Slimming World helps you keep your weight gain to a sensible level I'd say it's money well spent tbh. You sound as if you are expecting them to do the work for you. It doesn't work like that. If you need the help of the class (and if you've been going for 3 years it must do something good for you) then I think it's a bit silly to give up now. And trust me, I put on 5 stone in each previous pregnancy as I just ate and ate. It is not fun to get that weight off. If you can avoid gaining it in the first place then that's a big plus. Your attitude to me seems a little like cutting your nos eoff to spite your face. Why shoudl it suddenly be free? You need their support now more then ever tbh.

i have always aimed to get to target..... and then not have to pay!!! i think its the knowledge that there is no chance of that now!! plus i am eating so unhealthily at the min cos i am constantly feeling nauseous all the time.

I still go to Slimming World, but I don't pay because I'm a Target member.

As long as you have declared you're at target before you're pregnant, you're free throughout the pregnancy.

Afterwards, you have 6 weeks to get back to your target zone before you would have to pay (if you're still out of it).

eurochick · 02/11/2011 17:58

I don't understand why you think it should be free. SW is a business. They offer a service and you decide whether you want it enough or not to pay what they charge.
