hi all.. a few weeks ago i posted on here looking for advice on ovulation test,
i did have a positive at the time of asking and i am currently about a week over due my period.
i bought a superdrug brand pregnancy test this afternoon. its the early on which tests levels of the hcg hormone from 10ml.
within about 30 seconds i had a faint line appear.. its visible and you dont need to look close.
i waited 3 hours and did another, same brand and same thing happened again.
im really quite excited but im worried in case because it tests so early that it could be a false positive? ive read up on evaporation lines and it dosnt seem to be one of them. for one it came up in the right time and it does have colour to it, its just very faint.
should i start jumping for joy or has anyone else experienced any false positives with these early tests?
i have went out and bought a more expensive well known brand to use tomorow morning, but each time i think about this my heart skips a beat.
if anyone has any advice or similiar experience please let me know
thank you
x

It sounds like a positive test. Congratulations! :)

louby86 · 31/10/2011 15:27

Sounds like a positive! Congratulations! I took a first response test about 4 days before my period was due and I got a really, really faint line so I went and got a CB digital one to tell my how pregnant I was and that worked straight away, that was the only test out of loads that I actually believed because it said it in words!

amandagoodman · 31/10/2011 15:32

oh my goodness you girls really think so? im sooooooooooo excited. im just worried incase its all a false result, but i think i will go get a digital..
ive been reading up loads and i know that some tests wont show a postiive if you are too early? like clear blue test from 50ml of the hormone in your system whereas the one i have used tests from 10ml.
so i think i would be too scared to get a clear blue one incase its negative with it being so early!
ive bought a predictor one for tomorow, will see how that goes, think they test from 20ml

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I would have thought that after a week, you should be able to do a digital test at any point during the day (provided you pee is not really diluted) and it should come up positive, if you are.

Anyway, a line is a line but I know how much more reassuring it is to see it in writing.

Congratulations!

my periods are always a little bit all over the place, so im guessing its about a week, i usually get them within this time frame im on, however i have no period like symptoms. just sore boobs and fatigue. plus i keep getting twinges in my lower tummy..
lines a line, love it! fingers crossed then thank you

A digital test should be fine by one, the CB ones have statistics on them that IIRC are not too different to using a first response! Go get one and hopefully you can confirm all the excitement you're trying to hold in at the minute Grin

FirstTimeMummyToBe · 31/10/2011 15:43

A positive is a positive! Congratulations sounds like you are pregnant :)

MrBloomsNursery · 31/10/2011 15:54

Congratulations!!

mumt1 · 31/10/2011 16:09

Congratulations! A lines a line! That line will ONLY appear if there's the pregnancy hormone in the wee! Try and avoid the digital, well from my experience, as ur getting a faint line so far, it reflects onto the window n if the line is not strong enough it won't pick it up so might say negative. Personally, from this pregnancy I tested a weeks before due, 3 days late and 5 days late all with clear blue and first response. All negative completely. Gt tesco homebrand and was instantly positive, with my first, clearblue wouldn't pick up my pregnancy, I used asda homebrand and ready it straight away in the evening! So just go cheap! Their just as good! But congratulations! Sounds very hopeful!

Superdrug tests have always been exceptionally accurate for me.
You sound like you have a nice line of the right colour within the time limit.

That means that you are definitely pregnant!

I found the predictor ones quite crap but that might have just been me. If you have had a decently positive result on the superdrug then you should get a faint positive on any other brand of test anyway.

Congratulations!

positive is a postitive, on the other hand ac negative can be a positive but not the other way around. My tests were very faint lines too. After a few hours they had darkened after sitting for a while. I tried tow separate ones a a clearblue and a first response. The first response came up a little quicker and a tiny bit darker. Congratulations!

amandagoodman · 08/11/2011 12:15
