Snowsuit or muffler

We're due to have our first baby on 24th Dec, so baby will be going out and about in winter weather. Could any mums advise whether a snowsuit or pram winter muffler is better? Or just a blanket?...

Thinking of occasions when we might be going in and outside, e.g. shopping, and what would be most convenient. Keep looking at snowsuits and thinking that the baby would get warm if left in it if we were going into shops, so we'd have to be constantly zipping her into and out of it.

Any advice appreciated!

I had a snowsuit with DD. It was fine. If she got hot, I'd just zip open the front and put a blanket over her and then do it up again outside. Not much effort. I never used anything else, so don't really have any other advice. I'm going to be using the same snowsuit for DS hopefully.

I had this exact dilema in Next today and was advised by mum and sil to get something like this...for in-pram outings. Not a full on snow suit, but still nice and cosy. Was told to pop a cotton hat underneath and a decent vest&leggins and sleep suit/babygrow/whatever really. Along with decent mittens. And over the top, a pram/cell blanket and one on stand-by, meaning you could layer up and de-layer slightly more easily.
The full on snow suits look good for baby slings etc mind you.
Was told I'd be overly paranoid and chekcing her temp regardless of how sensibly I'd dressed her and just to get used to it...
The whole clothing thing's freaking me out plenty. Baby looks like she's got long legs on the scans, so I'm reluctant to buy anything in case she's too tall to fit newborn stuff! I've inherited lots of vests etc, but mostly spring/summer stuff. Confused

I've been wondering about the difference between snowsuits and pramsuits. So pramsuits are lighter I take it? So far I've been more concerned with finding something that doesn't have those flipping minature ears...

Ds was born at end November, we live in Switzerland. We never used a pram suit or snowsuit. We were given a fleece-blanket-wrap and he went in a babygro, trousers, jumper and blanket, then in carry it under the normal cover. He was fine. Obviously with a hat, although the blanket had a hood thing at the top. When it was warmer, he was just in a babygro in the fleece. I'll try and find a link, not sure what make it is.

It was this one:

Babynomade Fleece Wrap by Red Castle

It was really easy when we went in shops, just open it up.
