Decreased movement 37 weeks - worried

Hi All

I am 37 + 4. Since last night the baby has not been moving much.

I have done the glass of water, lying on my side, loud noise bath etc and whilst he is moving, it is not as frequent as before and the movements are smaller and less pronounced. I would say he is making small movements maybe twice an hour.

I think he has started to drop so I don't know if that's the reason or if I should go along to the DS and ask them to check him out. This is my first baby and I know my DH thinks I am being paranoid (although will happily take me to the MW to put my mind at rest.)

I have just had something to eat so will see if that helps but any advice would be greatfully recieved

TIA

Go to the MW, for your peace of mind Smile

Notinmykitchen · 29/10/2011 12:15

Go and get checked. It is probably nothing, and he is just having a quiet day, but it can't do any harm to check. In the very unlikely event that there is a problem it could save the baby's life.

IrnBruAddict · 29/10/2011 12:16

Although the chances are everything's fine, to put your mind at ease I think you should try to get checked out today. The MWs will never tell you you're being silly or that you should't have gone.

Good luck, let us know how you get on Smile

Phone and get checked. The MW will honestly not mind at all and it will put your mind at rest.

Flisspaps · 29/10/2011 12:16

Go and see the MW.

Kayzr · 29/10/2011 12:17

Go and get checked out. It could just be that your baby has moved and doesn't have as much room. But it's better to get checked over and put your mind at rest.

cheekydino · 29/10/2011 12:19

Go and get checked out, and don't worry about being paranoid. They check lots of women everyday who think they are being paranoid, and don't mind at all.

peeriebear · 29/10/2011 12:21

I agree, they will not mind and will check you over. When DD1's movements slowed they invited me in for monitoring every couple of days (she was completely fine, just running out of room in my neat bump!)

catgirl1976 · 29/10/2011 12:23

Am ringing the midwife to try and arrange to get checked. they have been engaged last 10 minutes but will keep trying till I get through. Thank you for al the advice will let you know what they say

Definitely go and get checked out. It's important to do that and it's not at all paranoid or silly... I can't stress enough how important it is. If you go today and they say the baby is OK but it's not moving go back again - it is very important.

catgirl1976 · 29/10/2011 12:30

On my way to Delivery Suite to get checked. Thank you all

Hope everything is ok. I've been in once for the same thing, baby had quite to boogie as soon as I was hooked up to the monitors :)

Merlioness · 29/10/2011 15:38

Hope everything is ok. Let us know how you get on

catgirl1976 · 29/10/2011 17:35

They were brilliant. Ketones in urine so they thought maybe had not eaten enough which had made him go still.

Monitored for an hour, there was some decrease in heatbeat so they monitored for a second hour. The second hour looked fine but they are still a bit worried about the decrease from the first monitoring so I have to go back tomorrow and for a scan on Monday. Hopefully it is just a blip but either way he is being closely looked at which is great

Thanks everyone for the advice and good wishes

Smile Phew!

ChippingInAutumnLover · 30/10/2011 01:10

I'm so pleased you went & that they are going to keep monitoring you closely :)

If you are at all worried between visits - please go straight back in... don't wait until your next appointment OK.

Merlioness · 30/10/2011 01:40

So glad they are keeping a close eye. Enjoy the peek at your little baby on Monday :)

frutilla · 30/10/2011 02:32

Good for you getting checked, glad things are ok. I remember a couple of days decreased movements around that time. My m/wife told me to eat something sweet, like you have to do before fetal monitoring, the movements are supposed to increase.

catgirl1976 · 30/10/2011 16:27

Second monitoring went fine - everything looks normal. SO relieved

Thank you all again :)
