Bouncy chair, swing or both?

Getting my baby goodies sorted now & as I kept most stuff from my older dc there is not much I need 2 buy. I want something in my living room for baby to sit in but my flat is only small so that's the only room it will really be needed for so do I get a bouncy chair or a swing or go the whole hog & get both, space is limited but I can make anything fit (who needs a sofa anyway, lol). What is everyone else doing?

I had both, but only because I didn't know swings existed when I bought my bouncy chairs!

If you can find a swing that has a 'lock' to stop it swinging, then I'd go for that. If all swings just swing and can't lock (mine can't lick), then I'd get a bouncy chair and then see how you go.

I have twins. My daughter has never needed the swing, sinhad she been an only, I would have only had a bouncy. My sin in the other hand, liked rocking, so the swing helped a lot from about 3 months to about 6 months.

This is what I'm thinking about too! I was thinking of getting a bouncer, as we normally left DD on the carpet on a blanket and she was fine, but we have a boisterous 4 year old aswell, so don't one the little one squashed!!

What kind of swing do you have your eyes on? Would you like something that lasts a long time with the baby? I've seen one bouncer that converts into a toddler chair, which I was quite impressed with, but it is pretty expensive.

I'm going for a swing over bouncer because it lasts longer. The one i've been looking at is fisher price 3 in 1 and goes from tiny baby to older baby to toddler it's about £100

We have a simple rocker seat that reclines to almost flat. It has a vibrate function which we have used from time to time and a very annoying tune that doesn't get switched on much : ) The seat has been great for all three especially no 2 and 3 as they had jaundice and needed to sleep next the window for the first few weeks to get day light so the lie flat function was great. The seat fits them until they are around a year old when they can climb in and out of it on their own.

For no 3 I got the Fisher Price Rainforest swing not the low travel one but the higher up one. I wanted it specifically for the 30mins in the morning and 30mins at teatime when I would need to focus on getting the older 2 fed/dressed/ready for nursery school run and the teatime rush. It worked great and he regularly fell asleep in it. DS loved it and was at a height he could see what the girls were doing rather than being down at floor level. He was in it until around 6 months when he was trying to pull forward to sitting and was reaching the max weight for it. I have just got it back from a friend who I lent it to for her DC2 for my DC4. Do you know anyone you could borrow one off? I was happy to lend it to my friend as my DS was finished with it but we knew we were likely to have no 4 so it was better her getting use from it than it sitting in the loft.

We have both. And instead of getting a huge swing we got a travel one that you can fold up, its quite compact :)

Thank you everyone, I have found one that locks in place so would do both jobs. Think I will go & have a look round shops next week when my dc are back at school & see what I can find any excuse to wander round a shop or 2

We got a baby bjorn bouncer and it's fantastic. My little 8 week old is in it now and is nodding off... Its like sitting in a hammock and you can give it a gentle bounce ... One of the best purchased we've made!

I have both. I didnt find out that swings existed until too late with dd. So we have her bouncer and I have just bought a swing. My attitude is that you can never have too many options to settle a small baby!
