These are all the things I have left over from DD when she was born 4 years ago and things I've bought. I don't know what else I should get apart from 3 more sleepsuits in 0-3month size. Please help me! I'm having a boy, so can't use alot of DD's clothes like dresses, but have put her flowery bottoms aside.

Things left over from DD
4 x baby grows (2 terry ones, 2 cotton ones) size 0-3 months

5 x vests size 0-3 months,

6 x vests newborn upto 7lbs

5 x vests size 3-6 months

1 x sleep suit size 3-6 months

2 x muslin cloths, 3 x terry burping cloths

2 x fitted sheets for moses basket and travel cot

2 x light blankets ideal for swaddling

1 x cotton type cot blanket

3 x cotton hats

1 x snowsuit

1 x fleecey cream coloured outfit (that DD came home in...thinking this one could aswell)

1 x Pushchair/carseat

Things I have bought for new baby

1 x dungaree outfit size 0-3 months

Wooly Hat and mittens size 0-3 months

2 x cute baby tops to wear under dungarees size 0-3 months

2 pairs of thick socks size 0-6 months

(and then I've bought some outfits for the summer, but they're not important)

Do I need to buy anything else?

Oh, didn't buy a rocker for DD, but am thinking to buy one for this baby. Is it worth the money? Or should I not bother? Should I buy a big activity play mat instead?

Thanks!

When are you due? Cardigans leap out at me as missing from your list... Did you really get away with so few muslins? I think DH was nicking mine and selling them off we got through so many!

I'm sorting out my stuff from 4yo DD1 ready for DD2 and I could open a shop, I'm horrified!

MrBloomsNursery · 28/10/2011 16:26

No!! I had loads of muslins with DD - these are the remaining few...I lost most of them or some just got too dirty to bother keeping - think yellow stains!

Yes! I do need cardigans! Good one! - Im due in early Jan so definitely need something to keep him warm!

You need WAY more sleep suits than that. You will probably get through 3 a day! I just unloaded DD's old stuff for this one (also a DD) and I have at least 10-12 sleep suits, 10 short sleeve body suits (or more), and 10 long sleeve body suits (or more), and about 5-6 'outfits'.

GuillotinedMaryLacey · 28/10/2011 16:34

Early Jan here too. I've been trying to get my head round it, luckily DD1 was early Jan as well so all her stuff is in the right season.

Um, I would go with the playmat, we seemed to get loads of use out of that and she used to nap in it during the day!

So, something to wear, something to clean up, something to travel in, sleep in, be amused in...er...Lansinoh? :o

MrBloomsNursery · 28/10/2011 16:39

That's the thing, I can't remember how many things I had with DD - Alot of the stuff I've mentioned above are "leftovers", so alot of her sleepsuits have been binned when she wore them out or soiled them badly.

Do you think I should get 6 X 0-3 months sleepsuits then? and 6 x 0-3 month vests? That would be enough wouldn't it?

I'm not buying any more "outfits" because we have quite a large family and I know I will be given loads of stuff, so not worried about that. Just worried about the basic essentials!

I insisted that I needed a rocking chair before dc2 was born - luckily friends wanted to get rid of one they no longer had space for!

I also want a cot that's height adjustable so I don't do my back in, and will make sure there's a small lamp around for nighttime feeding.

Grobags, washable nappies, bouncer, baby gym, baby bath? Also what's the difference between a babygro and a sleepsuit?

banana87 · 28/10/2011 16:47

I think yes, 9 or so sleep suits and body suits (both short and long sleeve) is enough. You should also get muslin squares, bibs, bottles, breast pump stuff (if applicable), birth stuff (maternity pads, etc), SOCKS/booties, and hats.

Ugh...don't remind me of chapped nipples! I haven't been able to touch them throughout this pregnancy so far, am looking really looking forward to bf-ing again(!!)

notcitrus: I think a babygrow is the same thing as a sleepsuit - they're just all in ones aren't they? Although, I don't know why, babygrows tend to be sold singularly, and sleepsuits in packs...but I'm not sure about that one!
Ooh, yes, I have one grobag already, and we didn't have a baby bath with DD - only a baby seat for the big bath. Might think about getting a bath this time.
I had a light sensitive night light last time - it turned off itself during the day, and came on at night. Will need to fish that out from somewhere!
