Because its marginally more polite than saying your arse has got huge.....

I know, the other day someone asked me if I was having twins...! Although I much prefer that to 'you hardly show at all' - love the bump.

i think this is in the same category as 'bump touchers' im quite forward when someone annoys me so i touch their belly too and ask if they are going to have any kids, as though its perfectly normal. they dont normally do it again.

i think people just like to acknowledge your pregnancy when they speak to you and are limited in what exactly they should say. I have found that people always comment on the size of my bump although the comments they pass are clearly just for something to say - 50% say its massive and 50% say im small for 21 weeks!

People are just so socially awkward they say ridiculous things!

& why do strangers think it's ok to stare open mouthed at your bump when they walk past?? & why does everyone insist on telling birth horror stories to pregnant women?? Grr.

The strangers I can cope with, I usually just put it down to them being morons but my mum continually keeps comparing me to the 6 foot, size 6, 20 year old neighbour (I'm 34, 5 foot and WAS a size 10!) I've tried hinting that comments about my size can be hurtful but it's usually followed up with "lindsay (the stick thin girl that was very recently a teenager from over the road) lost all her baby weight in 2 weeks"! No pressure there then!

was talking to DP last night he suddenly says turn to the side so i did and asked why he says 'from the front you look really petite but when you turn to the side it's like whalop' replied with a sarky thanks he couldn't understand why i was annoyed at his nice compliment.

I too get half saying i'm tiny half saying i'm huge it's annoying.
