My Dh's work said they didn't want the original of my matb1. I was Hmm at the time and got DH to check but he was told no, no it's fine. Now with a month to go they have changed their mind and want the original. I have called my HR and they have lost the original and can only offer a copy.

DH works away so he won't even be home in the evening. He is about to be made redundant but they had promised in writing he could take his paternity first as this would be completed before the date his employment ends. I am having a section and don't want to have to cope with school run, bath time etc on my own for the first 2 weeks.

Sorry, you sound quite desperate so didn't want to read and run. Don't have any experience at all but, whoever issues the matb1, couldn't they re-issue if you explain what's happened. May be get your HR to get it as they lost the original? Sorry, hope someone more useful arrives soon. Lots of luck.

I had to as dh only got 2 days off I was walking to the school 3 days after the birth

Don't worry you'll cope if you have to !

Can't you just ring your GP surgery explain what has happened and ask them to give you another one?

Minus273 · 26/10/2011 12:45

I can't even be sure I will be discharged day 3 pp Confused. I've left a message on the MW's answering machine so fx she can help.

Your GP can also give you another form, no problems.

hubbahubster · 26/10/2011 20:35

My DH's work were fine with a copy of my MATB1 since obviously my HR needed the original. Seems odd that your DH's employers are taking this attitude. But I'm sure your midwife will be able to do you another.

I had no idea the dad's work needed a matB1. my DH just kept reminding them I was due that month and when I went into labour rang work and said he'd be off for 2 weeks, I guess he's very lucky

Broodzilla · 26/10/2011 21:17

I had to get a second form because my own HR lost the original... MW issued it no problem so don't worry... :)

sleepevader · 26/10/2011 21:20

Midwife will do another no problem but I think if you look into the paternity leave procedures they aren't legally allowed to ask for it.

Minus273 · 26/10/2011 21:26

I have just been reading information my HR sent me and it says that they legally have no right to insist on it. I really do suspect they are trying to find an excuse to get out of giving him paternity leave.

The DH/Ps employer shouldn't need the MatB1...that's nothing to do with your DP.
Have a look here
This is the only form HMRC need...thus, they need.
What they're asking you/your DP to do is unethical. Whilst he is disclosing information about you on the linked forms, the MatB1 form has more personal information about you than your DPs employer has the right to ask for legally.
Get DP to fill in the form on the second link and they can't refuse the form.
