Does anyone know if Strep B can still be passed to a baby during Caesarian Section. My midwife did not seem to know!

I remember reading that it can pass to baby, though I think the risk maybe lower. If diagnosed with Strep B I think that the protocol is to still give IV antibiotics, so there must still be some risk.

My DS was born by C-Section and I'm pretty sure he had something like Strep B. Although they didn't call it this, he was in an incubator for 2 days and then in the neo-natal unit for another 2. They gave him anti-biotics and it was not very pleasant I have to say. I was not at all happy about it but what can you do. He is now 11 weeks and a very bonny baby.

Grommit, have a look at the Strep B Support website, I carry Strep B too and to my memory a vaginal delivery was safest, I'm sure the info is in there somewhere Strep B Support .

All the best!
