Is this what it's supposed to feel like after sweep? Did yours work?

I'm 40+5, and the MW came round this afternoon to perform a sweep.

My cervix isn't unfavourable - apparently it's in the right position and soft. However, the babys head is not engaged at all - but apparently, this isn't anything to worry about with your 2nd child.

Have been sat on my birthing ball for the past hour and a half - whenever I get up to walk around, I feel quite uncomfortable - but it feels more like trapped wind and a pressure in my bum! Is it supposed to feel like this?

I'm about to drag DH and DD out for a walk too.....

How did you feel after yours?

Oh dear God - I think it was just that I needed a poo ...............

This baby is just not getting the hint that she needs to come out....

After my sweep I felt as if I was about to start my period. But took a second one 2 days later before DD made her grand entrance.

I needed to empty myself before I went into labour, and I had a sweep (which worked) I felt really fed up, hormonal and physically like I was about to have a period too :) hope it works! Goodluck!

Maybe your LO's head has now engaged? Mine engaged a few days ago and I can't stop pooing!

I felt crampy like I was about to get my period too, I had my sweep at 5pm on Monday, and DS1 arrived at 10.14pm the next day.

How on earth did you get to 40+5 lovemysleep time flies!

After my first sweep I felt quite sore and crampy and I too felt like I needed to poo.

Four sweeps later, and I was being induced with prostin. DS' head didn't engage until my waters went.

No-one can ever really say a sweep worked as they're only performed on women who are 'overdue' and who are already dilated enough to sweep anyway.

It's just as likely anyone who has a sweep would have gone into labour at that point anyway.

Hello again! I'm still here...40+6 today.
I've had 2 sweeps. The first was last Monday. Apparently it all looked good...3 cm dilated, central cervix, 50% effaced, baby at -2 station. Felt a bit crampy and sort of bruised afterwards and lost some plug the next day with a bit of blood and got very excited. Then it all went quiet.
Had another on Friday which did... absolutely nothing. Didn't have cramps or soreness or anything. Due for another on Friday coming. It's worth a try! I'll do anything to avoid induction which has been threatened for Monday.
I really hope your niggles do turn into something!

Hello coconuts - Congratulations of your DS - lovely to hear that he arrived!

Well, tried a spicy thai curry last night, then made the mistake of going to see "Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy" - I'm either a lot less intelligent than I thought I am (highly likely!!!!), or I'm just too bloody distracted by the baby to concentrate on anything that involves a bit of brain power.....it was dull, and I was ready to go home after 40 minutes.

God knows if anything will happen today - another sweep booked for tomorrow, and then induction on Wednesday. And I really wanted a HB...

i had a sweep on the sat and ds2 born on the Monday at 39+6. if it gives you hope had no signs all day, water broke at 9pm, contraction's started at 9.30 and he was born at 11.27 in maternity Triage. so might happen all of a sudden when your least expecting it!
